Hiya All,
We finally got around to seeing the film last night! (The last night it was on.... in the last cinema to show it in Bristol.....)
It was great! :D
It also had bit more depth then I was expecting....
.... Susan Sarandon - "...everyone needs a partner to bear witness to your life..." for example. Obvious Cliché's and grand finales avoided - the film was better for it.
RGere and JLopez portrayed as ordinary people, who many of us could relate to - eg. Their clothing looked ordinary off the shelf, rather than amazingly tailored - even in the dance competition...
The background message - dancing can be whatever you want it to be.....
Mr & Mrs Jones - re-igniting their relationship, which had hit a comfortable rut, but nevertheless a rut....
Link - extreme escapism
Paulina - all consuming passion... in need of a little perspective...
Dancing - The common language, cutting right across social classes and cultures
In short:
Dancing - a celebration of life - long may it continue in all its forms! 8)
...um.... I like the film as you can guess! :)
Best wishes
Martin
