But don't give the judge your phone number in open court when so attired. It could damage his (her) career.

It's a her.

The Right Honourable Lady Cosgrove.

Judge of the 1st House of the Court of Session in Scotland, and the first female judge to attain this rank.

Apparently, she's a very strict sentencer too.... :tears:

Thanks guys...

For the record, here's the story!

I'm a little, teeny, weeny first year law student.

We (another first year student and myself) entered the university mooting competition. A moot is a mock court room situation, where you debate the points of law of an appeal case.

Somehow, we managed to make it to the final, knocking out a 3rd year pair in the semi-final, who'd represented the university at a UK mooting competition, and got to the final of that themselves previously.

We didn't win the final, but came pretty close, and got some nice comments from the judge, and also the principle of the university, and the principle of the law faculty who were both there watching the final.

Feeling a little disappointed that we didn't win the final - we lost it on a lack of knowledge of evidence and procedure really, which we don't study until next year. But still very pleased that we managed to make it to the final though. Which will look great on my CV.

Thanks again for the good wishes :flower:
