Seemingly....... the technique is to use headphones and a tape/MP3/disc player - OK if it's solo dance, not so good for partner dance (dual headphones? - a bit of a tangle methinks), soooooo in the absence of infra red headphones locked on to a transmitter on a ghetto blaster, probably the thing to do is to dangle the headphones round your neck and turn up the volume. A squad dancing the Charlston Stroll to the Squirrelnut Zippers would have went down well but the logistics are difficult. There's going to be Break dancers, ballroom, swing, disco, probably country. Kick off is precisely 5.47 today.... go get your dancin' shoes now....

To quote the pearls of wisdom from Lynn :

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. Explore. Dream. Discover."
Mark Twain

Tee Hee.... that was a laugh and a half. Must have been over a hundred turn up who gave the commuters something to talk about last night. You should have seen their faces when the station clock turned 5.47 and suddenly the station was alive with lindy hoppers, break dancers, hip hoppers and loads just bopping around on their own. Pity it didn't go on longer. Thanks to Stephen for organising the event and to those who turned up. Dancers who could have turned up but didn't - lame........

I'd say there were about 150 people, lots of different styles of
dance too. But, some how, the idea entered people's minds that it was
only supposed to last a minute. which was very strange.

Mobile Clubs and Pillow Fights are similar to Flash Mobs but don't
have definite end times. they've taken place all over the world, in
London, New York, Berlin, Hong Kong, Tel Aviv, Paris and elsewhere
typically go on for an hour or more.

Anyway, we should definitely do more MCs, (traditional) flash mobs
(with definite end times and weirder tasks) and other acts of
mischief around edinburgh. there isn't even a santacon in edinburgh!!
www.santacon.co.uk - check out the photo links. basically, 100s of
people dress as santa and spend the day touring around their city,
drinking, singing re-written santa specific carols, giving out
presents and generally being creative. they happen in most major
cities in the world (www.santarchy.com/archives.html#2004) and may
need a year or two to warm up. London had 30, then 60, 180 and last
year about 250.

In the mean time, the Pillow Fight this Thursday is going to rock.
Make sure you follow the rules though..

tell everyone.

seriously. tell people on buses, in taxis, people waiting to cross
the road.. everywhere. just lean over and whisper in their
ears, "hey, do you want to come to a pillow fight on thursday?"

Pillow's at the ready, see you all on Thursday!
