What is wrong with the world ? Channel 4 just had a '100 greatest cartoons' show - here are the results (http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/G/greatest/cartoons/results.html)
-

Its got to be the stupidest list ever. First of all - The Magic Roundabout, Chicken Run, Wallace and Gromit and the Nightmare Before Christmas aren't even cartons at all.

Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies is listed even though its a type of cartoon/company not a cartoon, in fact Bugs Bunny and other looney tunes characters are mentioned individually so it doesnt even make sense.

Toy Story/Toy Story 2 and Shrek/Shrek 2 are listed as one film ? What ? It makes no sense!!

Not to mention the fact that TV programs and feature films are equally considered. Also 'Legend of the Overfiend' at no.72 is actually japanese anime porn :)

And the most annoying, no.70 in the list - Monty Python ! What! There was occasional animation in Monty Python of course, but is Monty Python a cartoon ? This is ridiculous, it makes no sense, I think we should invade. Arm yourselves people, we march tomorrow.

its nice to see the '100 greatest world cup moments' list on that page has 'Maradonna's 2nd goal against England in 1986' as no.1. Deservedly so, well done Maradonna :).

I watched the start of this programme and was amazed, firstly, I've never even heard of a cartoon called 'queer duck'? 'Charley says' has surely got to have been the worst animation ever and as for the voices, It used to give me a headache, even as a kid!

But there was one funny thing that came to light on it, did you know that Penelope Pitstop had a clearly labelled button (along side lipstick and mirror) marked VIBRATOR? :really:

Well well girls, how's THAT for ingenuity? :worthy:

It's amusing to cross-reference it with the 100 Greatest Kids TV shows at the same site. Mr Benn is number 6 on that poll but doesn't rate a mention on this one, for instance.

No Batfink either...and Popeye better than Danger Mouse? Consider me drafted, General Smurf.

Disgracefull: "Inspector Gadget" at 46!!
What about "Mysterious Cities of Gold"? "Ulysses 31"? "Jason and the Wheeled Wariors"? "The Fantastic Four"? "Bill Plympton"? "Akera"?...

I agree: stop-motion is not "cartoon", I've never heard of "Queer Duck", MontyPython having animation does not make it a cartoon (and I think it's naff anyway).

MontyPython having animation does not make it a cartoon (and I think it's naff anyway).I would like to respond to this criticism with a well considered, thoroughly researched and cogent response......
