OK ... I apologise for the 'News of the World' headline but its not a total con.

Have you ever found that there was someone dancing and when you congratulated them on how nicely they danced they become all embaresed and deny doing anything well. Also, did you ever see a nice dancer and wished you'd given them some praise.

As with life, I think that people are told all too rarely about the things they do well. When it comes to dance I know its a very personal thing but it would be nice if this thread could be just good news ... no putting peoples styles down ... just praising peoples dancing because YOU like it.

This is not the same as 'Heroes' on the dancefloor ... this thread is for Jo Public who you may see every week and who probably doesn't have a great opinion of their own dancing. Its very easy to comment on just how nice a dancer Gilbert is or Fran & Bill ... but what about everyone else?

I'd like to start the ball rolling but must confess that I'm at a disadvantage because I don't know the names of a lot of the dancers. So ... can someone else get the ball rolling?

You don't expect me to remember names do you!? The only time I specifically notice and take note of other's dancing styles is before a class and in the breif time it takes to gulp some water - there are some excelent dancers in Aberdeen - I could point to them, but don't ask me to put names to the faces.
When I glance at other dancers while I'm on the dance floor, it's only really to try and gain some inspiration for my moves - I don't take any particular note of style.

...hmmm...might be quite cool if someone took some photos during a normal class night at all the venues, then Franck (or someone else) could compile a "rogues gallery" for the various venues. (And then you could virtually point to people.) I wonder how many faces would be recurring ?;)

~edited~
Another idea that Franck could look into; members could have the option of up-loading a photo of themselves into there profile so that we all know who to dance with/avoid dancing with* (delete as aplicable)

I also have difficulty with the names !! (Workshops are good for that cos of the wee stickers but you don't get to do freestyle and then by the time you do you've forgotten their name !!)

Anyway to answer your question (and assuming, Gus, this isn't just a ploy of yours to find out all the female talent up here before you come to the party ) here are some of my fave dances(dancers) of all time so far...

Franck - a fantastic bluesy/jazzy song one Monday night a few months ago - it was yummy and Hey Big Spender was fun !!!

Raswan - superb eye-contact !! makes up moves sometimes but hey I can cope with that !!

Blond guy in Edinburgh (sorry don't know your name ) very gentle but sooo in control !! loved that dance at the comps mmmm mellow !!

Roy - I just feel like the only girl in the room - loads of wow moments - perfect leading !! (and perfect height for some very close moves !! )

John S - more please !!

Niall - just CEROC fun at its best - always have a laugh - what a smile !!!

CJ - mellow, knows the breaks surprise! surprise!! - that Santana one with you is just bliss

Gus- great dance at the comps would have loved another - see you on the 23rd

Brian - Edinburgh - our first dance was Ricky Martin I think and we just clicked

Brian - Glasgow - we are just so cool and sexy (well we both THINK we are hee hee ) and we always have a laugh - roll on Barrhead gala!

Brady MIB hero - dancing with you is just getting better and better and I don't just mean when you are the girl !! hee heeee

Dave - Aberdeen - we can do better really we can !!!I just know there are some wow moments to be had !!

Mark- Aberdeen - at last intermediate workshop - I just know you are going to be fab in freestyle

These are the ones that come to mind right now but there must be loads more... sorry if I've missed you out this time round ...

Not allowed to mention BTC Bill , right ?? You know what we all think of Bill ..... dreamt about him the other night but that's for another thread or even a PM perhaps .....

The funny thing is that some of my fave dancers are also the ones I have disasterous dances with - many a time I've just cringed and thought that the guy must have really hated it and will never dance with me again. Luckily I usually get another go and it turns out OK .

Another strange thing is this forum !!! I was really nervous dancing with people I've spoken to here. (And I've got ErickLondon, Gadget and Curtain to come !!) Can't make up my mind if I had more fun when I just danced with people with no talking. I used to be really quiet at CEROC (no I was!!!). Turned up, danced my socks off and went home. More recently I chat a lot more ... mmm... quite liked the anonimity ... maybe I need a new name/avatar like an Andrex puppy called Snookums and I could express my feminine side a little for a change .... I DO have one - thwackk !!!

Right Wendy, move over, here's my list.

Like you, I'm sure there are some I've forgotten and like Gadget there are definitely some great dances I've had with people whose names I don't know but they had great smiles.....:D

Alex - what can I say? He's just wonderful, so good! Such fun! Puts up with all my nonsense, does great seducers very carefully. Takes care of me on the dancefloor and doesn't mind when I tread on his feet with my new shoes (not used to dancing in heels!:sorry ). The shimmy king............

Brian from Dundee - a lovely dancer who doesn't think he is, great lead and now he's relaxing a bit more has a lovely smile.

Steven (the dancing penguin) - has learnt a lot from his old man and is now getting more adventurous. Watch this space - he's going to get better and better.

Gregor - so strong, so in control. Wow!

John Lusby - ooooh those arms - now he DOES look good in a vest!

Dave D - brill! He remembers that lovely slight dip turny thing from V & L and leads it sooooooooooo well. Great at leading the double trouble and fun to dance with.

John S - Fred Astaire!

Sherwin - the Bombay Bad Boy has the best smile in Dundee. Love dancing the fast ones with him. Superb.

Graham from Glasgow - had a great dance the last party night, looking forward to next Saturday.

The lovely Roy - wonderful, such a good lead, great moves and a cheeky glint in his eye. A party night just isn't complete without a dance or two or three or four.........from Roy.

William from Edinburgh- as Wendy says - mmmm :yum:

There is also Brian from Edinburgh who I love to watch especially when he's dancing with Elsie- superb!

Frank - goes without saying - had a total blast with him in Aberdeen on Friday! He loves to dance, what a guy!

Scot - ok, I know, another teacher, but he IS a great dancer although we don't get the chance to dance together often enough.

And then there's the girls :-

I love dancing with Lorna from Aberdeen whether she's leading or I am - she's just a fab dancer and looks so good.

FC - what can I say, the body roll champ! So much style and expression. Great.

Elsie - just so much musical interpretation, a fab dancer and a total loony - my type of girl!

By the way the names are not in any particular order just typed at random - except Alex, of course :waycool:

Oh, nearly forgot - there was a Chinese chap at Marcos one night - brilliant! and Ash - superb! and some guy called Gus......oh and did I mention Elliot..............  :yum:

Wendy

I'll add some girls too but only those I watch cos I'm not a boy in freestyle - too damn hard !!!

Jayne - she looks so light on her feet, easy to lead, can do the ballroom head thing and has an impish smile and high flirt factor in the eye contact department - I can see why she is a favourite with the boys !!

Janet- so tall , so elegant with those bambi legs !! another ballroom head girl and very very sexy in the right hands !!!

Dark Bob, red dress, gold shoes (?) girl at Edinburgh parties, might be from Aberdeen, Laura ??? - she looks perfect - I aspire to be like her - sexy, a little mysterious, bags of style - coming back as her in my next life !!

FC- respect those body rolls, girl, and the flat stomach in those skimpy tops grrrrrr!!!!

Short haired girl from Edinburgh (Elsie I think ?? ) - indeed, gives Brian a run for his money - I can aspire to be like her in this life , just !!

Sheena - (my elected head girl of Ceroc Scotland) - elegant, smiling, stylish, great figure, lovely lady, trousers the boys want to stroke !!! what else can I say !!!

Lydia - let's just say I'm working (really hard and loving it !!!) on just one of her moves !!! (And it's not doing sit-ups although that could help a little !!) Maybe next year I'll try another one !!!Phowaaar !!!

Mairi - lovely sliding footwork - have stolen your side to side thing !! Think some of the boys are scared of you though !!! And hey is that a BAD thing ?????

Fiona - blond Glasgow (where have you been ??? - oh and bring Adrian back !!!) great demo with Franck - always smiles !!! elegant etc etc my first hero as a beginner

Maxine - great smile, looks easy to lead

Fran - long and elegant and slinky - well if Bill has chosen you... you must be .. well BTC !!!

Rachel - love your stylish sticky out hand stuff - and the boys seemd to enjoy your presence up North !!!

Kirsty - great hand out to the side - I'm still practising ...

Elliot's partner at the comps - really skippy and looks like she's having fun (yeh, we'd all be smiling like that, wouldn't we girls !!)

Bet DV and Emma are crackers too !!!

Again am bound to have missed lots out . Even worse at remembering girls' names for some reason ... :what: :innocent:

As for me, everytime I think about it, my mind short-fuses at the enormity of the task... So many great dances over the last 10 years :really: In fact so many dances over the last 10 days!

Where do I start? Probably with the countless, anonymous beginners I have danced with, I get a buzz every time, and really enjoy every minute of every dance!
Dancing with teachers, is an all too rare treat, but every time I dance with Mairi, Lorna, Kathy, Lisa, Elaine, Alison and of course Obi  I always love the experience (especially when they occasionally let me lead :na: )

Wendy, fabulous dancer, and yes I remember that dance too! Brilliant at interpreting the music and improvising.
Janet in Glasgow, so many great sexy dances and bags of style.
Jayne, brilliant fun to dance with, style aplenty and as Wendy says, that cheeky glint in the eye... :yum:
Frances, great for those Rock'n roll moments, so stylish and full of energy & fun on the dance floor.
Fiona, my fantastic demonstrator, so easy to lead and fun to dance with (come back soon  )
Sheena on Friday in Aberdeen, 3 dances in a row and I could barely walk by the end, so weak at the knees that I was!
FC, at that club in London, we had a ball! You are a total style inspiration.
Sandy in Aberdeen, great for those Bluesy moments
Heather from Dundee, what fun we had (yet again) on Friday, you can really make a man feel 'special' :nice:
Kim, taxi-dancer from Aberdeen, I always love our dances, so relaxed and you always look so happy!

Last but not least, Barbara, my wife, with whom I get to dance all too rarely, so stylish and connected, I hope to catch up at the 10th anniversary party

So many more women I would like to name, but, whose name escapes me... (those of you who know me, or who demo-ed with me, will know that names are not my strong point :sorry )

As Sheena says about me, I really enjoy dancing, and every single dance I have had (about 15,000 ??? :really: ) deserves a mention... Not to mention all the dances I am looking forward to next Saturday!

OK ... there's a fair cop.

This list will be in installments as my ageing memory recalls some the many wonderfull dancers North of the Border ... that and my hangover isn't helping the memory recall at the moment.

Of course there is the Dundee posse (Denise, Heather etc) led by Sheena ... some great dancers but my dances with Sheena have always been a delight .... with a smile like that (and those trousers) how could you not enjoy yourself.

FC ... a great dancer who I'm sure will develop more and more ... still trying to learn half her body movements but think I have more fun just watching her ..:yum:

OK .. now I start to struggle with names...

Tall dark haired lass ... danced with at Marcos when I first came up ... Mari-Geisler (??) ... lovely soft dance, great interpretation ... left me wanting more!

Jayne Trixi Belle ... great dances at the Champs .... great fun

The lady who grabbed me for a dance on the carpet as I was leaving the Champs .... not the best surface and I was shattered ... but will still had a great blast ... next time we must make more time :nice:

Fran ... one of the loveliest dancers I've had the pleasure of escorting onto to the dancefloor ... even BTC doesn't deserve you.

Laura (I think) ... some of the best UCP dancing I've ever enjoyed at my last visit to Marco's ... I'm sure that some of the moves she used have been banned by the Brtiish Censorship Board but it left me with a smile.

Sorry ladies ... I know there are others I've had the pleasure with ..... just refresh my memory at the 10 year party as long as I haven't offended you by forgetting.

So apologies to

Fran, with whom I used to dance a lot in Edinburgh, and who always made me look good...

Denise from Dundee, wow, what a fabulous dancer and personality to boot, was hoping for 2 dances in Hammersmith, but only managed the one, so popular she was with the (notoriously picky) London crowd

Laura in Aberdeen, very sexy dancer and natural mover...

More to come in further posts, as names and memories hit me...

Franck.

Oh, alright then. Profound apologies to anyone whose name I've forgotten....going back to a thread several months ago, there are a couple of people I dance with virtually every time we see each other, but I'm too embarrassed to ask them to remind me for the umpteenth time what their name is. There are three in particular I really want to mention, but rather than give a description I'll just ask them their names next time and give another installment. Maybe I'll also be able to list some more after the party!

Andrea (sp?) - first really good dancer I was able to dance with and not feel completely intimidated. Excellent at adjusting to the level of her partner, easy to lead and I always enjoy our dances.

Carol (sp?) - taxi dancer from Glasgow. Only danced together a few times, but it's always been fun. Last track at the last Glasgow party was the last time, and really nice - more than made up for being shunned by my lovely wife :reallymad

Clare (sp?) from Glasgow. Fantastic to dance with - first person to really show me how to let the girl improvise, and I still always manage this much better with her than anyone else.

Frances from Glasgow - What a hoot! Definitely enjoys herself, and always great fun to dance with!

Janet - Another dancer who really helps me improve. Echoing the previous comments, sexy and fun to dance with.

Jayne - Since she managed to stop giggling at me when we danced (I'm told I look too serious, even when I'm trying to smile, although of course I can't be sure that's what she found so amusing :what: ) I've really enjoyed our dances. Definitely endorse the glint in the eye thing, and like Janet, bags of control and stylish movement.

Linda - taxi dancer from Glasgow - always smiling, and very easy to lead to almost any pace of track.

Mairi - Great to watch, and fun to dance with - shows up weaknesses in my lead if nothing else!!

Maxine - Wendy was right - really nice to dance with. "Soft" without being wishy-washy.

Rowan from Edinburgh - enjoyed every single dance we've had - another one's well overdue!

Sharon from Glasgow - Another great smiler, and always looks as if she's really enjoying our dances!

Sheena - what can I say? - looks great, feels great (to lead, I mean :sorry :really: , although those trousers.....:yum: )

That's all I can think of for now!

Hi Val

How cynical !!! Really don't agree. It can be very hard to give compliments in real life and even harder to accept them graciously. So personally, I find it quite liberating to be given the opportunity in cyber life.

Up to you . Here's a chance to say what you think .... something made you read this thread in the first place..... wonder what it was....

:D And at least its not as sickenenly cringeworthy as the 'Dance Heroes' thread which really was OTT. ( I think Franck would censor what I really think so I'll restrain myself on this occasion)
There's nothing wrong with giving praise where its due, but most of the people I dance with KNOW when I have enjoyed it because I TELL them. I'm still working on my list, and will post it when its ready!!!!!

Sorry Val, but I disagree too.

It's not all about telling each other how wonderful we are........there are people on the lists that I've never heard of and people on my list that others won't know. It's about saying thanks for a dance that you had - not always with those who are classed as "the best" dancers!

Sometimes you just don't get the chance on the dancefloor as you or your partner get whisked away for the next dance.

So just let us into your secrets - who do you like dancing with

John S

I've got mixed feelings about this thread - I was dead chuffed to be on both Wendy and Sheena's lists, because they would both definitely be on mine, but it is so incredibly difficult to pick out more than a handful from so many, without upsetting someone who isn't on the list. I've had so much fun in so many different places with so many different partners (oh, and the dancing has been pretty good too.)

So, here's a "top of my head" very short list which I hope doesn't give offence to anyone not on it - it's just a snapshot of a few memorable dancers who have been significant in my dancing life, and I could easily make it 20 times as long and it would still be incomplete - to be honest (and this sounds sooooo cheesey) every woman and every dance is in some way special to me and I try to get that across.

Anyway, here goes:

Sheena (Dundee) - it's all been said before, and to top it all she is just sooooo nice as a person.

Wendy (Glasgow) - only danced with her at the party last month, - dances like she posts on the Forum, fair wore me out, but I'm game for more!

Wendy (Dundee) - got it all - looks, personality and dancing - and how lucky was I as a raw beginner to get her in the Lucky Dip at my first London Champs!

Melanie (Dundee) - so enthusiastic and talented, and always kindly helps me to my seat after our dance, so I can recover.

Linda (Dundee) - for spending weeks on end with me in rehearsals for the team cabaret - and we're still on speaking terms (just).

Irene (Rosyth) - for keeping Rosyth going and for all the years of fun dances and parties.

Maggi (Edinburgh) - for the sexiest UCP dances I ever have (week after week after week) - maybe that should be spelled "weak"

Marion (Prestwich) - for introducing me to Ceroc, for years of dancing in competitions (and lots more besides!)

Elsie (Edinburgh) - for looking so brilliant when dancing with me, and doing it in such a way that even I thought I was leading her.

Fiona (Aberdeen) - for all the eye contact when dancing together over the years!

AND HERE'S A FEW GUYS I REALLY LIKE TO WATCH (AND WANT TO COME BACK AS IN MY NEXT DANCING LIFE):

Brian (Edinburgh) - unique style, amazing to watch, my hero.

Gilbert (Edinburgh) - soooooooo smooth

George (Prestwich) - fabulous dancing, teaching, choreography - makes me sick!

Scot (Dundee) - style and apparently effortless

Sherwin (Dundee) - moves like a dream with a smile that would light up a city

Alex (Dundee) - because he gets to dance with Sheena more than any of us!!!

S'funny... Jayne and I were talking about something along the lines of this on Saturday, so when I read this thread on Monday morning I kind of had a list ready.

My top ladies in Glasgow are, in alphabetical order (cos any other would get me into trouble) :
Alexis, Clare, Frances, Frances, Isabelle, Janet, Jayne, Jean, Joanne, Linda, Linda, Liz, Mairi, Margaret, Maxine, and Terry. And that older lady whose name I've never asked in 3+ years of dancing :sorry:
Add to that lot Amanda, Mel, and Lisa from outside Glasgow. If I got to dance with those 19 on Saturday I'd be happy.
Some are not just because they are good dancers - although almost all of them are. There are more good ladies in Glasgow than that list but I always have fun with this lot.
I'd have put Wendy on but she omitted me from her list, so I''ll just be mindlessly petty and omit her from mine :na:

See how easy it is to hurt people? See what happens when you start picking favourites? Waaaah!:tears: :tears:

Think I disagree with this !! I can see why Val has reservations as this could turn into a 'lovies' corner ( thought you wouldn't like that Heather !!) ...... but it is good to say thanks and tell someone you enjoyed the dance.

Maybe what this thread will do is to make all of us be more appreciative and to to say thanks more obviously than we may have done.

I thought the heroes thread was good as it allowed us to think about dancers who we had learned from. There are only a handful of really great dancers but loads of good/very good dancers around so by naming those we do or have enjoyed dancing with will exclude the vast majority  :tears:

Perhaps we'll have every Ceroc named on here soon !!

To be honest I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of people at any of the dance venues that DOES have a big ego - at least as far as dance is concerned. We're all too laid back (look im including myself in 'no ego' - someone correct me if im wrong :) ) - especially the Aberdeen and Dundee lot - so laid back theyre horizontal :)

although under 'laid back' in the dictionary it says 'see Gilbert' :)

Don't beg, DV, it's so not like you! I am surprised, though - I had assumed you would be featuring on so many other lists that missing from my (very abbreviated) one would not have crushed your ego to this extent. Anyway, where's your list? (Bet I'm not on it now!!!!)

This was always both the serious point and the real danger of this thread - no matter how much we might joke about it, we really do all appreciate being thanked / valued / appreciated and the real time for doing that is at the moment, eg at the end of the dance or at some point during that evening - which is why I tried to list (mainly) those ladies I have danced with in special situations or regularly over a long period.

I'm new here. This was the first thread I've read :)

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed dancing with Lisa and Laura at Camber on the weekend.

And how I always enjoy dancing with Fran.

Vague memory of that ... just rmembered that his main claim to fame was coming 3rd in the Advanced section at Ceroc Champs 2001, partnered by Sophie B, who won this year with Raymond ...... the Girl sure seems to get around:rolleyes:

Is this confesions month for Scottish Males to deny their masculine upbringing and start dancing with each other .... I feel another contentious thread coming on ....... must ... resist .........

I take it then that The Tramp is actualy Steve (airsteps) Lampert in (a very poor) disguise
Yeah. That'd be me.... I take it the 'poor' disguise that you're referring to, is the fact that I put my name (Steve), and a personal description (bald, fat and ugly) in the post. This (theTramp) is just my nickname. I'll tell you the story one day...

Steve can, no doubt, provide the REAL reason .... but the RUMOUR was that ........
Old news now really. Think it would have been better if I hadn't put that in my profile. But I guess it's a little late now. If anyone wants the full story (my side obviously - contact ceroc head office for their version), you can PM me and I'll think about telling you, but I'm not putting it up on a general board.

Nahhh ... that may get me into trouble again!
Again??? Surely not, Gus!! :really:

I've even danced with him (badly I might add, I was leading)
I'm sorry. It was probably my fault. We'll have to do it again soon and see if I've improved

This is so true. I was told at Camber that I might be able to move up into the 'improvers' class now. Wheeeeee.....

Ah well ... you may have to be a bit carefull with you predeliction for airsteps and deep drops ... if you get chance to view some of the threads they're not looked on overly favourably on the Northern dance floors .....

Sure you'll compensate with your suave Bluesy dancing though:wink:

Ah well ... you may have to be a bit carefull with you predeliction for airsteps and deep drops ...
Well, I've never done a drop (or airstep) without checking with my partner that she (or he!) is happy to be dropped first (well, unless my partner throws herself into it. I thought your comments about letting her get on with it in that case were spot on btw  ).

Whenever I teach a drop, I always make the point that if you haven't had permission to do drops, then you shouldn't. I have read the threads (I'm bored in work today) on drops and airsteps, and I heartily concur that they are used in far too many places where they shouldn't be, and often by too many people who don't know how to do them properly.

I also quite agree (I think that it was you who suggested it, Gus) that a lady who is being made to do drops (etc) that she's not happy about should leave the floor immediately. And then tell all her friends (which is probably more effective than telling the teacher - it's very difficult doing any moves if no-one will dance with you).

Incidentally, it should also be pointed out that just because someone is doing drops with one person, doesn't mean that they are happy doing them with you!! Asking really is the only way to go.

I'll look forward to learning some more suave bluesy dancing off you though...

Wendy, is that me?? You are lovely, thank you - just had a week off work (including weekend at Camber) and reading that comment made me smile on my first day back in the office.

I think I must get that sticky-outy-hand-thing from when I was first learning Ceroc and taught by Phil Roberts and Michaella. Every week they really stressed the point that the lady's arm should be out. But I'm trying to curb that habit somewhat now, as I'm getting told off for it (especially after wacking Marc around the face during one of my spins this weekend ... He wasn't best pleased!).

Waaaah!:tears: :tears: Very easy to hurt people indeed, but the point of this thread was not to list your top dance partners, just a chance to say thanks to some of the people you have enjoyed a dance with over the years...

I notice there is a strong dominance of 'Forum' people listed in this thread(as opposed to 'real' people? ), and this re-inforces the idea that generally we are pretty bad at knowing / remembering names on the dance floor...

Hopefully, this is just a bit of fun, and nobody (listed or otherwise) should take it too seriously :nice:

OK so IÕm replying to myself now...

IÕve been asked where my list is... well here it is...

Few things first: IÕm not the brightest cookie in the biscuit tin which means that IÕve probably left out someone whoÕll make me feel really foolish next time I see them... sorry in advance guys.... :sorry Some people may also have noticed that sometimes when a dance finishes I have a HUGE grin on my face and I throw my arms around the person who I was dancing with. Clue: this means that I enjoyed the dance: take it positively, I donÕt do it to everyone. Finally, names are in alphabetical order...

Brian (Glasgow): Great guy, great fun to dance with!

BTC Bill: not a bad dancer, youÕve got potential....  Have I ever mentioned learning to Tango??? two days to go...

CJ: great dancing with you (and your hair... StuartÕs primed me....) Great combinations of moves, good lead and always smiles at my mistakes.... (and laughs when I wonÕt do the drops, and at my parking and...)

Franck: always great fun! (just donÕt get me to demo that drop again... ) Catch a dance or two on saturday!

Graham: Why the serious expression Graham??? Great dances Ð prefect execution!

Grant: great lead Ð always enjoy our dances...

Gus: really enjoyed our dances at the comps Ð youÕve got ÒsomethingÓ in your dancing Ð IÕll have to have a few more to work out what it is though...

Iain R: great dances, soft hands, lovely smile and brilliant air dancing...

Iain (salsa): ceroc, salsa, merengue, cha-cha Ð always great fun and, well, we just dance well together donÕt we??? :nice: Òyou dancinÕ?Ó

James?: turns up once in a blue moon at Glasgow Wednesday Ð wow! Excellent dancer!

Jim: great fun Ð that straightjacket really is so easy! Shame I never see the break coming...

Malc (my Dad): youÕre the best!

Raswan: you make it up as you go along, donÕt you??? Great eye contact and great fun!

Roy: how come we always get the room to ourselves??? Great lead yet fluid dancing Ð and that cheeky smile of course!

Sherwin: WOW! Those fast records with you are just amazing! And such a smile!

Stuart: IÕll whisper in your ear later  :innocent:

and finally thereÕs another guy IÕve danced with at both Glasgow and Edinburgh Ð youÕve told me your name and IÕve forgotten it... :sorry Fingertip control, great dancer Ð really enjoy the few chances I get to dance with you.

Again, HUGE apologies to anyone IÕve temporarily misplaced.. :sorry...

Catch you on Saturday (but be gentle with me...) and look out for the hugs...

Going off line until a week monday.....

So, here's where I make all the girls, and all the guys on the Forum really jealous :D

Went dancing at the Rivoli ballroom tonight. Didn't really feel like going out, but I forced myself anyhow. Was very glad that I did go though...

Had several dances with Rachel. And they were all fab. And she was wearing this very nice little black dress. And looked totally gorgeous.

Steve Oh Steve ... you certainly know how to make a girl smile, don't you! I wasn't half as nervous as I usually am with you and I loved our dances! Just a shame there wasn't enough blues music to go round!! I did try requesting All That Jazz, and some slow bluesy numbers, but I was too late and the evening was almost gone by then.

Glad you liked the dress - it wasn't especially little, though, was it? Part of it was actually very long - Marc said that, from the back at least, it actually looked quite respectable.

I did enjoy watching your dances with Elliot - though I really think there should be a ban on guys like you two dancing together. Just not fair on us girls!!!

What made me laugh most on Saturday was that Times reporter who was all over you at the end of the night - positively gushing about your dancing abilities ... He was very, umm, ... enthusiastic, wasn't he?? For a while, I didn't think he was going to let you go!

Take care, and hope to see you around again before too long. Save me a slow one,

Part of it was actually very long - Marc said that, from the back at least, it actually looked quite respectable.I was looking from the front though :D And there was that time you showed everyone sitting down your knickers. Allegedly.

I did enjoy watching your dances with Elliot - though I really think there should be a ban on guys like you two dancing together. Just not fair on us girls!!!Ummm. Nope. No ban. Sorry. Was quite good fun though.

What made me laugh most on Saturday was that Times reporter who was all over you at the end of the night - positively gushing about your dancing abilities ... He was very, umm, ... enthusiastic, wasn't he?? For a while, I didn't think he was going to let you go!Ummm..... :sorry Thanks for rescuing me.

Save me a slow oneAnytime. Just the one though??? :tears:

Hi Guys,

Well this thread has been dormant for over a year now, but I've been thinking about it a lot recently and I thought that given we have a whole new population of people on the forum it would be a godd time to bring it up again.

Basically I just wanted to say thank you to Gus for starting the thread in the first place. On the whole I've always thanked people for the dance, once the dance has finished. But after a while that slipped into formality, like asking how someone is when you greet them. This thread made me think again and I've made a conscious effort to say thank you and mean it when I've had a great dance (this usually translates as a hug - you'll know when you've had a "special thank you"!!! :what: ).

I was wondering if anyone else changed their habits after reading this thread? Did it make anyone else think?

(or was it just me?)

J :nice:

PS as an aside if you go to a tango bar - saying thank you means that you've had enough and want to sit down. Well they do say that making mistakes is the best teacher.. :sorry

Maybe you should - or you could come up to the Beach Ballroom before that - then there's the Big Forum Gathering in September- or if you're going to the Blackpool Comp then half of Scotland will be there anyway

If there are any sassanachs who wonder why the Forum is so popular ... it means you haven't visited the Scots on thier home turf. I started this thread all those many moons ago because I was so blown away by the people I met. At a time when I'd really lost any interest in dance, the MAd crew et al reminded what this whole dance scene was about ... and I dont think I ever got round to thanking them all properly.

I remeber that Fran and FC put me up (and put up with me) and introduced to their fabulous friends and dancers. Had fabulous dances with them and Sheena, Denise, Heather, Jayne, Sal, Lorna, Lisa, Anne-Marie and hordes of other ladies I'm embarresed to say who's names I forgotten. Also got to meet some top chaps .. initialy the likes of DS, DD, Alex etc and more recently Jive Brummie. I would truly consider my life to be lessened if I hadn't met these guys and all the other chaps who make the scene up there so great.

Reason for this slushly meandering ... well, a few pints, a review of this thread and a pleasant evening including a long chat with Lovely Roy, surely one of Scotlands finest exports.

Long May Ceroc Scotland proposer and long may us Southeners make the trip up North to find out/remember what this dancing game is all about.

Can you believe it, I've been all over the world but I've never been to Scotland. After reading this thread I think that needs to be rectified this year!

On the theme of the tread, I'd just like to say I had one of the BEST dances of my life tonight, I danced with a guy called Seamus, at Ashtons and for the first time (and probably the last time:sad: ) in my life, I did a tripple spin BUT THAT wasn't all, I went on the do a QUADRUPLE and landed it :D, but apart from that, he's just the loveliest dancer and has the ability to make me feel 'special', its so lovely when you KNOW someone's really enjoying dancing with you, it makes all the difference in the word. It's a shame, he's not on the forum! but I had to say it anyway!

When I get my thinking cap on I'm going to make a proper list!

He was at Hipsters Friday thingy first time I have seen him for a couple of years - he has been in America - really nice guy AND great dancer, always smiles when he dances. I have his email address, I will ask him to register  (just sent the email)

Sheena - I can't make the Blackpool event this year but will make a big effort to get to Scotland again this year (I did manage to go to Marco's once last year......take advantage of work visits!). As I recall, Scottish Ceroc events have always been extremely friendly to unfamiliar faces...

Pretty cutsie footstamp to get all that nice response eh?

I don't know xSalsa-Angelx from Adam, but based on her posts about type of music she likes I would probably be more likely to ask her for a dance than not, especially as she's danced professionally.

he's the only bloke who's made me do it 4 times and left me still begging for more!

AND you had SUCH a sweat on at the time ! ! ! !

I know who you mean! Isn't he an amazing dancer!! I've only seen him once at Cricklewood and we had a couple of fantastic dances. It was only later when he told me his name, that I realised who he was and remembered seeing him dance with Sophie at Hipsters, etc.

The only thing was - I was a bit freaked out dancing with him cos it felt like looking in a mirror - he looked like the male version of me. It was wierd! I'd definitely queue up to dance with him again, though.

I told Marc about it - he didn't think we looked at all alike either, though. (?? Isn't it funny to realise that other people see you differently from the way you see yourself?)

But it's great news to hear Seamus is back on the circuit. I've really been enjoying Ashton's lately, too, and we'll always try and get to freestyles. Can't make the Wednesdays, unfortunately (that's Marc's Milton Keynes night).

Request for DavidB! Please make tips available to ALL men!

My tip is, unless your at least 5-6" taller than your partner, avoid that move (don't know the name) where you drag your partner backwards under your armpit!:rofl:

As they are Mark IV DavidB Patented Tips I couldn't possibly divuge them on an open forum!

the dance floor is not the appropriate place for pulling hair IMHO - even if the lady doesn't mind - but thank you for being so forgiving.
