Hi guys!

Anyone know of any books with good pictures of dancers? It could be any style (ballet, tango, ballroom etc), what is important is lots of good pictures of different dance poses! A sculptor friend of mine is planning to make a series of small sculptures of dancers, hence this request....

Anyone?

No ideas on suitable dance books I am afraid but an alternative suggestion.

A local artist approached my ballroom class a few years ago and asked if he could get some dancers to model for her. The dancers thought this was a great hoot and they got all dressed up and she came along with her camera and got them into the poses that she wanted and then took about 10 shots of each pose from the angles she needed.

The dance school got a resin cast of one of the models for use as a club trophy. Everyone was happy.

Happy Dancing

I was looking at one in a local Waterstones the other week. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly what it was called or who wrote it, but it was something like "How to do Ballroom dancing". It was a reprint of a book that was quite old and it was in the Sports section.

That probably isn't a lot of help though!

Hi Chef!

Yep, he's already thought about going to "The Space" which is the local dance studios. The only problem with using live models is they often want paying, and you have to arrange suitable times for everyone etc... Obviously, using live models is the ideal, and he often does, but he also need some reference books to look in whenever he needs them...

Thanks for your idea, though!

Good one! Will suggest this to my friend. Have aso browsed the net myself, and found a few lovely ballet books..... Will tell my friend - he doesn't use computers/internet himself, claiming he's too old to learn!
