Was wondereing if competitions are only for more the advanced ceroc dancers :worthy: or can newbies join in the fun as well. I've heard there is a ceroc competition in Blackpool in March, does anyone have any more details?

There is a Modern Jive competition on Saturday 5th March: there's also a dance the night before. The link to their site is here. (http://www.achance2dance.co.uk/)

Please note Ceroc teaches Modern Jive. It's a bit like saying that MacDonalds makes hamburgers.

I entered my first dance competition having done 7 months Modern Jive. I entered the Lucky Dip and the Intermediate. I went out in the first round of both and had a brilliant day out  My advice is to do the same at blackpool - except try not to get knocked out in the first round :tears:

So Andy, how would you have put this if Paul had asked the question in 1985 when people were Cerocing & Lerocing and the phrase "Modern Jive" hadn't yet been coined?

I was going to ballroom dancing classes at the time and not going to either LeRoc or Ceroc and the internet chat room hadn't been invented and the PC had a Winchester drive and it's own office for people to share and my secretary had a golf ball typewriter I think I probably wouldn't have said it.

.. although I'm not sure how much influence the golf ball typewriter had on my not saying it
