I'm very happy and excited to announce that our King (Franck) :worthy: is visiting the metropolis, on the weekend of the 21st Jan  AND he's being accompanied by none other than the absolutely gorgeous Tiggerbabe :worthy: (shhhhh, she's on a mission to visit 'Heavenly dance shoes' in person (perfectly normal))

Well, we're all meeting up at Ashtons on the Friday night and if you don't want to miss the chance of dancing with either of these fabby fabby people (and I have a feeling that they'll not be alone, as I've heard through the grapevine that there may well be another few 'A' listers, in town that weekend! ) :waycool: Then get yourself down there,

It's going to be one hell of a party!

So, who's coming??????

Errrrrrrrr, may consider it . Might peruse all the way down the M1 as long as a couple of conditions are complied with....
The luverly Franck attends wearing a kilt and promises to escort me round the dance floor for a couple of toons......( have heard a couple of rumours about how delectable he is in this particular attire and wish to view this myself!) :yum:
Your good self Lory, to tap dance with me in the corner whilst there may be a lull in the partner dancing
and a few choccies, muffins, ice cream or any form of "goodies" to be on offer so should the need for something tasty to nibble on arise, satisfaction will occur!
So all in all, consider that a ...........YES!!!!

See ya all there

Now, we need your advice. What do you want us to wear under the kilts?

I wore my kilt for the new year with a gold lame, glittery thong underneath and Mr Bardsey snogged me

What do I need to wear to get a snog from a woman?

Good question Andy but I'm afraid that conferring with the judges before the event may be looked upon by some, as being a perfectly good reason to be disqualified and we wouldn't want that would we?
My only advice at this stage would be to do some research on this subject, who knows , maybe talking to a real scotsman may get you some inside information on it that will give you the winning edge!

Having seen the photo's from Camber...... :worthy:  I expect you to be in the top 3 at least!!!

That weekend is the teachers update, so there will be a lot of talent in town. Hammersmith is being touted as a place to be, though many teachers will be starting the long road home instead.

How long does it take to get from Heathrow to Ashtons?????? And is it a 1.30 finish?? Seems to be some debate over whetehr it's 12.00, 1.30 or 2.00 ????

David Franklin

How long does it take to get from Heathrow to Ashtons?????? It depends how you're travelling:
By Car: Can vary a *lot* - 25 mins if no traffic at all, maybe a couple of hours if traffic is really bad.
By Tube: About 90 minutes (Get out at Willesden Green).
By Heathrow Express, then tube: About an hour (again, use the tube and get out at Willesden Green).

Ashtons is about 10 minutes from the junction of the M1 and the North circular I would say. Not sure how long from Heathrow to that point though maybe another 40 mins?

I think Bob the Dj announced last Friday that it was 2.00AM finish with the last hour as blues, but it says 1.30 on the website. Pretty sure 12.00 is an error.

In good traffic it can be done 30/35mins as ive use to come via Heathrow M4

Assuming your driving 8.30/9pm ish

If you are at Heathrow on a friday at 7pm and there is a major accident i would get a good book to read as you sit it out.

Ah. It's only 12 hours. And the way down will be overnight, and the way back will be after a sleepless night. So hoping to manage to catch some z's.

I once did a bus trip, New York -> South Carolina (17 hours), South Carolina -> Green Bay (24 hours), Green Bay -> New York (28 hours) over a week when I was in the States with nothing else to do. Two 12 hour journeys is chicken feed compared to that!

I think the music was mixed. There was lots of good stuff, but IMHO it wasn't as consistently luscious as the Christmas party on the 27th.

To say that it was mostly not dancable, though, between 10.30 and 12.30, is a complete misrepresentation of reality. Maybe not dancable to by everyone

There was one track (dunno what it was) that virtually cleared the floor in about 30 seconds at about 1, and big up to ZW for slapping Bob about a bit for that  , but there was very little as awful as that. Mostly he did a pretty good job, I'd say, and my thanks go to him for a couple of the fast tracks that I love that everyone else seems to hate... (BWCCT and Carlene Carter's 'Every little thing').

But it was a good night. I didn't decide to go until quite late, but it was very much the right decision. Nice to see some of the Scots too.

The highlight was the massage though

OK, enuf of that ! ! ! ! :innocent:

That was a terrible track that you would have recognised I would have started it from the begining.................
STUFF LIKE THAT (a different copy than usual)

Its a L O N G time since I played a track that cleared the dancefloor SO quickly
Must remember it next time we need to do that

OUCH ! ! ! Stop that ! ! !

Anyway, as usual we can't please everyone, but I'm glad, despite my efforts to ruin things, that you enjoyed the evening, and hope to see you back again.

You could always place a request you know? Like some did beforehand.

And a BIG Thanks for the comps. :worthy:

I find this very difficult, if truth be known. I don't have ZW's or the other DJs' exhaustive knowledge of what most of the tracks are called, so mostly I never know what to request

I just end up getting frustrated if there's too much thump-thump, or if everything I've heard is stuff I've heard a million times before.

In recent times my fave DJs have been Jon Brett, The Tweekster  , and our (sadly departed, it would appear :tears: ) Mr Lizard, in no particular order.

Without saying who the top three are now, Bob, I reckon you're very much a contender for a placing, in my personal DJ top 3.

So thanks for a very enjoyable (for the most part  ) set - if you could consistently pull off a complete blinder like you did on the 27th, you'd be my number 1 for sure.

Wouldn't you say Bob?

It is an education that's for sure and I would say despite the odd Bob-erration that:

Bob on a good night is definitely in my list of top 5 MJ DJ's :worthy: :worthy: :worthy:

How wonderful
I feel honoured

Any specials for Sunday (although I will only be doing a very short set, what with at LEAST 5 DJ's AND the Jive Aces, the Raffle, and another thing I have up my sleeve, there will be little time for me playing music, but I could pass requests on.

Have to agree with that one am afraid....not saying it wasn't good it just wasn't stuff/toons I like to listen to :tears:
Am not that big on all this imported latin american rubbish...sorry music  and felt it dominated that part of the night.
Hopefully am not causing offence, just stating my humble opinion :really:
Listening to quite a few others as well, they were in agreement with me.
Thats not say it was't a good night and some FAB toons were played.
Ericklondon :worthy:  some BRILL choices in your set earlier on...THANKS

Go on then....slap my wrist..... :D

It wasnt jive music but at least it cleared a lot of people of the floor :nice:

So that it only gets played when you WANT to clear the floor...........

Stuff like that there, by Kelly Clarkson

Put it in the "DON'T PLAY" list.

Too fast
Too noisy

etc etc etc

Would just like to say a HUGE thankyou to everyone who was at Ashtons on Friday night. I had such a wonderful time and so many fab dances
Unfortunately didn't get to dance with Minnie (will rectify this in Blackpool  ) nor Colin (but made up for that one at the tea dance on Sunday   ).

I enjoyed the music - even "Stuff Like That" - although it did take about 30 seconds before I figured out what it was we were dancing to

I'll definitely be back for another visit - if that's ok

Lory and Steven many thanks for your hospitality.

Well, only just recovering from my trip to London, and I had a Fantastic week-end!

Things started well with a trip to the Apple Store in Regent Street, where I was able to admire (and purchase) the latest hardware!
Followed by a fabulous dinner at Lory's, thank you so much for inviting us, the food, company and atmosphere were perfect!

Ashtons on the Friday was buzzing, sporting my St Andrews kilt, I never stopped dancing from the moment I entered the room, and what dances they were, I loved the music, all of it, danced fast, danced slow, danced close, and danced closer! Everyone had made an effort, and there was Tartan everywhere... The night was hot, sweaty and sexy like the opening scenes in the original Dirty Dancing! All the Scottish teachers and visitors were on such a high afterwards, we couldn't go to sleep and had to drink Champagne and chat until 5.00am :what:

Saturday, all Ceroc teachers got together for our annual update, and had a fantastic day. We looked at the latest developments, directions, moves introduced into Ceroc over the year, and what was yet to come.
We had a fantastic lesson on Lead & Follow by a top Argentinian Tango teacher, a brilliant class on how to teach Blues, smaller group workshops, where we came up with new ideas and exchanged teaching tips.
I finished the day inspired and thinking that despite its size and dominance, Ceroc has been very nimble and innovative over the last year or two, testing new ideas, introducing change based on solid and broad feedback.
Judging by the talent of the teachers I saw on Saturday, I'm even more optimistic about the future!

Saturday night was Hammersmith night, and I've already posted on that night, it was a special night, with so many teachers, and as a result probably even busier than usual, but great.
We followed the dancing with a party at the Peace Haven, where we had nibbles, Champagne, silly dancing, blues dancing, yoga & stretching, pole dancing, and generally a good time until 4.30am...

Sunday, a few Ceroc Franchisees had a (somewhat sleepy) meeting with Mike to discuss the future developments in the Ceroc and MJ world, and there is a lot going on, so watch this space...

Overall, a great week-end, with more dances than minutes sleeping  which is always a good sign!
Thanks to everyone in London who made us feel so welcome!

Soon I hope. Isn't it great to have your feet done !!!! Have added foot massage to a few of the full body's that I've done and although sometimes a little hesitant I haven't met anyone yet who didn't really like it !

Doing Indian Head Massage at the end of next month and then a weekend of Slavic Massage in April. Maybe I should bring my oils with me when I come down !! ...that and a box of chocolates might pay for any accommodation offered

Looking at the next Hammersmith dates I might make it down at the end of MArch - before I head off to Prague for a few days
