It seems Hollywood has been busy on the ballroom dancing front, with a movie called "Shall We Dance", due out in this country on 18th Feb next year. Details here (http://www.miramax.com/shallwedance/index.html)
I understand it's out in the US already, anybody seen it, or care to comment?

I've seen the trailer. It features the worst comb over hairstyle since Bill Murray in "Kingpin".

All the reviews seem to say see the Japanese version first, won 13 of their version of the Oscars. Seem to remember lots of rave reviews in London when it came out, but never managed to get to see it. Are remakes always worse than the original? Japanese version also released in the UK at same time as Hollywood version - Feb 05, but is available as imported region 1 DVD, is it worth buying?

has any one seen the japanese original??? Yes, a fab film, very gentle and understated. It's hard to see how a Hollywood version could reflect the taboos of Japanese society in the same way. Hopefully if it is a "remake" then they won't try, perhaps better to just go with a Hollywood style?
