:sorry:
I think I will go into hybernation for a while; get that PPD down a bit.:sorry:

What can I say? I have an opinion about everything, and a big nose. Please feel free to tell me to shut up (not that I will, but you can tell me if it makes you feel better  )

[DS: wish I could spend my time lost in dance; no-where to dance, no-one to dance with - never mind blisters:tears:... Maybe that's why I am so active here; just can't keep the dance out of my head!:waycool:]

You're going to have to start posting more often soon, especially those track recommendations of yours in the DJ Booth, I really liked the few you have mentionned so far! :nice:

Anyway, DavidB, it must have taken you a while to sort the Post Per Day chart :really: You really do have a lot of time in your hands...

5,000 posts though, wow :D :D :D Almost 300 members!
Did you know how dramatically the traffic to the CerocScotland.com website has increased over the last 12 months?

Were you part of the cabaret team?

It's a funny thing about the forum - it comes in cycles. New people tend to post slowly at first and then before you know it they are posting like mad. If like me you then go through a lull and stop looking at the forum for a while and then go back on, you feel like so much has happened and you've lost touch. At this point I realised I was addicted! Now I need to get a life!

Maybe see you at the party in Glasgow?

Cheers

It screens out Johnny-come-lately types who are bound to have a higher ppd count. People like ...oh err me :what: :wink:

The thing I liked about both lists was seeing how many of the most prolific posters I had met without even making it to the forum get together.

On this note, we probably will have awards for the Forum in the near future (January being the first anniversary of the Forum).
I think someone suggested it before, and I reckon it would be fun!

It may interest some of you (please yawn more quietly!! :reallymad) that since David published these statistics the post rate of 15/20 of those with the highest post rates has gone up. If you exclude people who have been registered for less than a month from the statistics, it becomes 17/20! Is this just that the forum is getting more lively, or are some of us now looking at the charts?

I've just seen this post and I cannot believe my dangley bits. I'm 5th!! Does this mean I'm in the elite?

Finally, I'd just like to advise Franck if I may ...

Don't give prizes man, peeps will just try to out-do one another and I'll become weird, trying for that weekend trip to Italy for the "How many times can the word aubergine be used in any given post" award.

Hi all! Here's this week's chart, which I'm obliged to post since I've actually managed to get in to it this week, and I don't want you thinking I'm afraid to admit I'm a saddo too. Maybe we should start a support group? My name is Graham and I'm a forumaholic.....

3.56 Gadget =
2.45 Franck =
2.22 Gus =
2.06 Curtain =
1.78 Keith UP 5
1.74 ericklondon =
1.74 Dancing Veela DOWN 2

1.27 DavidB =
1.06 Ceroc Jock UP 1
1.01 Bill UP 1
0.98 John S UP 1
0.96 Graham New Entry

This week posting has stabilised a little, so some people's posting rate has actually gone down, although the average in the top 15 has gone up yet again.

As the top of the chart is relatively static, I'd thought I'd try a new thing, so here's the list of people who have a post rate higher than 2 for November:

8.00 Bill
6.41 Graham
6.24 Ceroc Jock
5.35 Gus
5.24 Dreadful Scathe
5.06 Wendy
4.24 Franck
3.76 John S
3.53 Gadget
3.47 Jayne
3.35 Curtain
2.94 DavidB
2.53 ericklondon
2.41 Stuart M
2.35 Dancing Veela
2.29 Heather
2.24 Sheena
2.18 Keith

Finally, here's this week's top 10 posters:

5.86 Graham
5.57 Franck
5.57 Ceroc Jock
5.43 Gus
5.43 Wendy
5.14 Bill
5.14 John S
4.29 Dreadful Scathe
3.43 Gadget
3.43 Sheena

Hmm. Not sure I'll calculate this again in a hurry.......

Good grief! I'm not that sad! If you look at the members list, you can order them by number of posts, and then you can download the numbers into a spreadsheet. The overall post rate is thus trivial to calculate. The other lists rely on having previously taken a snapshot of the stats on particular dates.

In the spirit of saddos (and also mindless pettiness at disappearing off her list of top partners  ), I should point out Wendy's total is a bit artificial, cos she boosts it by carrying out conversations with herself on the Forum.

when you count - you use numbers! Examples are 1, 2, 3, etc....

...........spreadsheets

a computer program that lets you stick numbers and words into squares and re-arrange them & do sums. If you've got Micro$oft Excel or Lotus 123 - that's a spreadsheet.

OK I have to say for what it's worth that I think this is sad - I know it has been said before but honestly it's not a bloomin competition. It's chat and should be fun not some kind of rating:sad: Only my opinion!

Sandy

Of course it's sad!!!!! That's Graham's point (I hope).

Anybody who is on any of Graham's lists (and I acknowledge that someone called John S occasionally features) really needs to get more of a life! The aim should be to get OFF the lists, not on them!

But the Forum has been (still is) a brilliant way of bringing together dancers from all over Scotland, and now from all over the world, and long may it continue to do that. And as well as the social aspects and the (frankly) silly threads, some of the topics dealt with have had very serious and well-informed discussions on matters that concern us all.

:D :D I think you misunderstand the inference in Sandy's meaning of 'Sad' , John. I really think Sandy is meaning that the fact that lists are being made is the thing that is 'sad', NOT the fact that there are people making several/numerous/ multiple posts on the Forum. People chatting via the Forum is FUN, and that is why they participate. Making lists about who the frequent posters are is the 'sad' part'.
Am I correct in this assumption, Sandy?? If so, I must say, I am in agreement with you. I am on the Forum every day, to read what is being said. If I have something I feel I wish to contribute, I post a reply, I don't do it with the sole aim and purpose of getting on a list. If I did then I would certainly be sad (as in pitiful).

Heather,

Heh.

Well, if you all had a job that's as lame as mine, with as little to do each day as I do, you'd all be top of the charts too.

I'm still open to new offers (and actively looking). Posting on the forum (and one or two others) is the only thing that keeps me sane!!

I guess that as more people join, there's more messages to respond to, hence the message count goes up quicker. See, if you'd only responded to half my messages, you'd have gone up by 50 now.

Of course, if you'd only responded to the messages I posted that were worth responding to, then you'd have gone up by 1 now!!

Sandy and Heather,

The charts are intended to be just a bit of fun. A fortnight ago I looked to see if there had been any change since David's original listing, as I felt as if the overall post rate had gone up (which it had), and I decided to post the results. Last week, as I stated at the time, I felt obliged to post again because I had actually made it into the very group I had previously been slagging off. This week I thought I'd post again to let Gadget off the hook of being top saddo. Next week I expect I'll post again to show the definitive list for November, and after that I'll probably stop.

As John said, the aim should be to get off the lists rather than on. Sandy raised an interesting point about posting on the forum not being some kind of rating, though - maybe in December I could start doing a critic's column.....

(JUST KIDDING!!!!!)

I disagree. Wouldn't make for an exciting forum really, if no-one was posting, just to keep off the lists, eh??

The numbers are irrelevant and just a bit of fun. If people are enjoying themselves, then it's a good forum, regardless of whether they post 100 times in 6 days *gulp*, or once in a blue moon.

Stop analysing it (unless it's tongue in cheek), and just get on and have fun.

Yep Heather you are right. I love the forum and love chatting but I felt it was a bit of a "performance indicator" - God forbid. However maybe I missed the "tongue in cheek" bit! I was absolutely shattered after the weekend! I do have a hatred for lists as well! sorry Graham and you are a bloomin good dancer after all! I like spontaneity myself not thinking it's time I did another thread, my ratings are slipping!

Cheers:cheers:

Just as well - "Over 5000 Messages" was ok for a title before The Tramp arrived, but now we're heading for 8000, and after that - To Infinity and Beyond.

Hi again, pop-pickers!

This will be the last time I'll do this (at least for a while). And remember, this is just a bit of fun!

Amazingly, Steve has managed to increase his lead (actually I think it's just that he had a day off "work" last week), but no real surprises otherwise.

So the saddo charts currently look like this:

21.92 TheTramp =
3.92 Gadget =
2.58 Franck =
2.48 Fran UP 2
2.44 Gus DOWN 1
1.96 Curtain DOWN 1
1.57 Rachel UP 4
1.53 Dancing Veela DOWN 1
1.41 filthycute UP 1
1.39 DavidB UP 1
1.24 ericklondon DOWN 2
1.22 Keith DOWN 4
1.17 Ceroc Jock =
1.15 Graham =
1.13 Lou UP 1
1.13 Bill DOWN 1

I said this would be the last for a while, and it's so I could complete the profile of a whole month on the forum. Here is the list of people who have averaged more than 2 posts per day during November.

9.50 TheTramp
6.27 Dreadful Scathe
6.17 Bill
6.03 Gus
5.63 Graham
5.20 Wendy
4.93 Franck
4.87 Ceroc Jock
4.30 Gadget
3.37 DavidB
3.17 John S
2.97 Sheena
2.83 Fran
2.60 Jayne
2.47 Curtain
2.37 Rachel
2.37 Heather
2.10 Lou
2.10 Stuart M

Note that this is an average for the whole month, so people like TheTramp, Rachel and Jayne who had weeks with no posts at all must have been especially "busy" the other weeks!

Overall the top 40 posters currently account for 88% of all posts. In November, here's a graphical view of who within this group was posting the most.

5.43 Basil Brush UP 27
5.29 Rachel UP 12
4.57 Graham DOWN 1
4.29 Bill UP 4

And amongst the top 40, the split of posts is:
