Congratulations Franck and the whole Scotland team a brilliant event and look forward to next years.

Many of you don't know that at the last minute Franck was told he had no sound or lights, being super cool he got it sorted. All was well and Franck and I were sitting in the hall just saying that so much had gone wrong but we made it when the fire alarm went off :tears:

Franck was ice cool, picked up his Ipod and when we were outside watching the fireman do their stuff he pointed out he had sound and the fire engines had lights so it would have been fine. :waycool:

Thanks Franck for all the bubbles afterwards, still suffering and a huge thanx to Bardsey for the lift back to the airport. :flower:

Finally a massive thank you to Lisa for all the dances, but most importantly making me look like I knew what Bloos is  :flower:

Adam

In the photos are Franck, Diamond Geezer (Alex from Dundee) and David Chu (in the front)
In the hotel are Franck (pouring of course) and in the background (going anti clockwise from the right) are The Gaylord, Sparkles, Sheepy, Rythm King and Foxylady

WOW!!! What can I say - what a weekend! I still have a big smile on my face as I had a ball. Many thanks Franck and Sheena for organising it. :worthy: The workshops were great fun, tea dances enjoyable and music brilliant  It was super to meet so many Forumites that were just names before and to dance with some of you. Thanks to all the guys I danced with - you were great

Many thanks to Franck, Sheena and all those who made the BFG such a great weekend. Really enjoyed myself.

Thanks also to Forte and her luvly fella for taking us in hand on Saturday and showing us round the area and giving us lunch. Had a great time (and a lovely meal on Saturday night too). Thanks Jacks, you're one in a million!

This stupid little monkey forgot to bring a camera at the weekend.... :tears:

I guess I had too many other thinks to think about, with being a monkey and growing a mustache etc.... The latter was particularly difficult, and boy did it itch!

So, any lovely people out there who could e-mail me a few piccies?

Oh, and thanks to everyone who danced with me, and of course to everyone who helped arrange this fantastic event! Had a wonderful time, and am still aching!

*PHEW* What a weekend!!!!!!!

First thanks to Franck for organising everything :worthy: and for managing to remain cool in the face of last minute cancellations and fire alarms
I'm not sure how he managed to remain upright until the last dance on Sunday - although I suspect champagne, red bull and espresso had something to do with it
And my special thanks to him for making demo-ing the two Sunday workshops such fun - especially the Turbo Jive (Andy, how on earth did you manage to sleep through that one? )

A HUGE thanks to four unsung heroes of the weekend - namely Adam, CJ, Gadget and the Gaylord (in alphabetical order  ).
These guys worked like trojans all weekend sorting, moving, packing and unpacking sound equipment and lights, fetching and carrying various bits and bobs and generally tidying things up once the parties were all over.
And after he got his van packed on Saturday night/Sunday morning CJ still had to drive to Edinburgh to unpack it all, pack it again with equipment for his band and then drive overnight to Birmingham - what a star

More later

Huge thanks to all the scottish folk for making the weekend such fun.....

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

An enormous amount of hard work and dedication went into making it happen, and getting it all running so smoothly...... respect :worthy: :worthy: to all members of the team...

I could get addicted to dancing in scotland - an expensive business I fear !

I had a great time, too! Wonderful to meet Bardsey at last and Lori and Pammy and Boomer and Foxylady and and and!!! My non dancing shot putter is now a dancer (well one beginner's lesson on Saturday) He had a great time talking to Des and Steve and I am pretty confident I can get him along to the Thursday night beginners class now. yay! Sheena's footwear all weekend was impressive - not to mention half of England as well as Scotland now being jealous of her flat stomach. Thank you Franck for being our social convenor. And Mr Dance Demon! What fabulous records you play!
The fancy dressers were amazing. Stuart M with his toast in his pocket, Aleks as a spider on a toilet seat (!!). But the biggest thanks of all go to the lovely Graham for not doing any "dips" moves with me on Friday night. He knows why!

I'd like to say a big muchos gracias to our Franck (King of Ceroc) and Sheena and all the helpers, teachers and DJs who all did such a marvellous job.

Everyone should be so proud of the weekend.

I'm still thinking about songs I heard and dances I had.

Great atmosphere and and some really inspiring dancing going on during the tea-dances and freestyle.

Highlights for me were, The Blues Workshop, Double Trouble (Check Check),
Steve Trampies Competition Moves Workshop, all of the dancing, Max Piping in
the Saturday Night Party, the Costumes, the music and the dozen Firemen
who turned up just as I'd finished having a shower...It was just like a movie...and sound track by Franck and his sidekick I-Pod.

I really learned a lot and now it's just putting it into practise...and then laughing out loud as we fall over each other on the floor until we get it right.
I've got no excuse now for doing the same old moves over and over...particularly now that I know how to step back and go..check check!!

Thank you to those who voted for me, that was really cool...I owe you a dance so please take me up on the offer sometime.

Cheers

What a weekend!
Friday night.
A nice warm-up for the rest of the weekend - Adam at the decks and loads of lovley lades to dance with. :D
Saturday.
From running arround last thing on Friday evening asking if anyone knew what "blues" was, Adam entertained and Lisa impressed. The pink-panter theme will have to only be dusted off on special occasions now.
Lorna with her lovely demo was the most challeging workshop I have been to - not because I found the subject difficult (musical interpritation), but having to ignore the music it's self, concentrate on it's structure and only repeat the taught moves... kind of ironic that in order to do a workshop in MI I had to Ignore Music.
Double Trouble... what can I say... I admire anyone who can do DT. The slide through was a bit tricky with such a sticky floor (well done Franck!) and it's so hard concentrating on two ladies - I have enough problems controling one, let alone two. And trying to get them synchronus! :worthy:
Tigger babe's music through the afternoon's tea dance made it hard for me to grab a spot of lunch, and started dancing to more than one track while chewing vigorosly :innocent:

The start of the evening's entertainment was lost to me, but the rest of the night was filled with music and dancing - it went in a blur of sparkley dresses, shimmery tops, and some interestingly textured materials. Ended too soon as always - I think that there were a handfull of people I missed dancing with. CJ and Tramp ballanced each other very well on the decks; varied and interesting. Only criticism was the floor; a bit sticky... and I do like the occasional slide:D.
Big mention to Bardsey for the name tags, (although I lost mine somewhere)

Sunday
Muscles were all tight, feet sensitive and in need of sleep. So rareing to go...
Franck's workshop on leading seemed to strike a chord with a lot of people there - especially swapping roles for the fingertip lead.
Tramp's moves were definetly impressive; lots of contrast (well, Lisa and Tramp for one :D:innocent: ) with high speed moves coming to an abrupt hault, small moves ending in b i g finishes.
The turbo-jive workshop involved a heafty chunk of footwork, and a some good advice on maintaining energy without dancing at 200bpm all the time.
(BTW - some good worms Baldrick!)
Cakes, tarts, coffee and tea complemented another varied mix of music with the trolley-dolly Boomer and his lovely assistant Pamster serving our needs.

The evening's music was a huge selection of tracks with massive "musical interpritation" opportunities. Great selection Mr Demon.

I didn't get to chat with many folk; there was music playing and a dance floor beconing. There were too many folk to list, but thank you one and all for danceing with me.

:D :waycool:

Kay

I have to agree with you Gadget - the music on Sunday night was brilliant :worthy: Some really great blues tracks that allowed me to try out my musical interpretation  It was a great way to round off a fantastic weekend

I don't normally speak on behalf of the management, but feel duty bound to do so...

Yes, there was a lot of time and effort put in for the weekend by many people. I know how hard I worked on Fri/Sat, and I wasn't even there.

IT WAS ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Sat night, Franck and I were lucky enough to share a moment: we were up on stage, "All That Jazz" coming through the PA and we took a quick second to survey our surroundings:

some fab moves, some beginners enjoying their dancing, lots of fancy dress costumes, but SO MANY smiling faces (on AND off the dance floor). Am having a wee emotional moment typing this, but to see everyone enjoy what they were doing makes everything absolutely worth it.

It was a genuine pleasure and privelage to be involved.

Oh, and personal thanks go to Lory (STAR) and Bardsey!!

Steve and i had a really lovely time! It's our 19th anniversary today and it was a brilliant way to celebrate!

We both agree Scotland is beautiful and it certainly wont be the last time we visit!

I think we managed to find the perfect balance (for us), sightseeing by day and socialising, dancing and drinking in the evenings. (I got to indulge in both my hobbies, photography AND dancing!)
We're very grateful to Dance Demon, who definitely made our weekend a special one, firstly by giving us great tips on where to visit and secondly by playing such fabulous music on Sunday night! :worthy:

I take my hat off to Franck, Sheena and all the other behind the scenes people, all their hard work, it certainly paid off, I honestly don't know where they got their energy from? All the little touches, didn't go unoticed, candles, sweets and 'forum mouse mat' prizes!

I mentioned during the weekend and I'd like to say it again......being part of the forum, is a bit like being part of a very large family and the BFG was like a wedding where we kept discovering long lost relatives, people we'd heard stories about and seen picture of but now we've had the chance to meet!

I much preferred the more intimate setting of the Perth City halls, the Bells Arena was a bit to big to create the kind of atmosphere that I like and the floor was too hard for my old legs! But spectacular, nevertheless!

The avitar competition was fun, and all were worthy winners! I had a lot of VERY strange looks from the guests at the wedding reception that was taking place in the Salutation, whilst waiting for a cab in the reception.

Personal thanks to Adam, for sorting my back out! :flower:

Thank you to all the lovely ladies who danced with my muggle hubby, he said he had a great time! (although, when asked if he fancied having a go at lessons again, he gave me 'THAT look', and said, not a chance)

Every dance I had was superb (for me anyway) so many fun people, with smiling faces and that's the most important thing!

Oh what a weekend! It was supadancafantastica! What fun and so, so many lovely people to meet and to dance with.

Thanks Franck, Sheena and all those involved in organising this amazing event.

I ache all over, from top to toe, feel like I've been steamrollered...........but it was so worth it!

All parties were great but my very favourite was Sunday night........I love all those bluesy, jazzy numbers.

The workshops were something else.............up close and personal can only go halfway to describing those moves on Saturday morning! If you didn't know who you were dancing with before you started you certainly did by the time you finished! way hay Adam! Learned so much from all of the workshops and never fail to be impressed by the style portrayed by Lorna, Lisa and Sheena....oh to be like that! Franck and Steve.........what can I say........fantastic as usual, one super cool and one super whizzy! (did you really say "sh*g the ceiling" or was it my hearing!. Didn't get to do the 'double trouble' or last class on the Sunday as hadn't taken Red Bull and could barely stand by then!

Great to meet so many new faces and to put names to the ones I recognised on the Forum.

Thanks again to everyone who made my weekend so special (including all friends from Aberdeen who were brilliant company!).

I'm only a baby dancer, but am now COMPLETELY addicted! I absolutely loved every single bit of the week end and didn't want it to come to an end. I even still had energy left by the end of Sunday night - though was grateful for the slow tracks!

Thank you so much to everyone for all the workshops, great music, great dances and to people putting up with me gawping in amazement at the fantastic dancing all around! I feel utterly inspired, and keeping wiggling in my chair to the pink panther in my head!

Congratulations Franck and the whole Scotland team a brilliant event and look forward to next years.  Wow, I can't believe how exhausted I am still, despite sleeping most of yesterday, but WOW! what a week-end! :D

Thank you all ever so much for your kind words, and as CJ said, the best thankyou ever was watching everyone so happy, the big grins, great dances, hugs and chit chat really made my week-end.

Some Highlights for me, apart from the 'All that jazz' moment with CJ on stage on Saturday night, were:

• Meeting and hugging everyone on the Friday night, I was tired, stressed and hyper but you were all wonderful, and I'm sorry I didn't teach a Comb on my first night...

• Sheepman and Adam's brilliant music (some real gems from both of you) which kept us all dancing despite the exhaustion...

• the totally sexy 'blooz' workshop with Adam and Lisa, I have never met a teacher who could explain / teach and entertain so well. Adam :worthy: it is no surprise I keep asking you back... (how about that Blooz / Tango / WCS Fusion with a twist workshop next year  ?)

• Demonstrating for Lorna and watching a full class dance to the music, some of them for the first time  A great format for teaching musicality and style...

• Relaxing and getting some incredible dances during the Tea-dance on Saturday, some great music from the mighty Tiggerbabe

• Going through Fran and Shona's legs during the Double Trouble workshop, thanks for the lift Scot  Definitely a brilliant workshop, and a revelation for many.

• The team and camaraderie with CJ, Adam, Gadget, Gaylord and Sheena when we were setting up (and packing) the sound and lights. I can't thank you all enough for your hard-work, enthusiasm and commitment.
Without CJ's dedication, there wouldn't have been a Saturday night
Thanks mate, I owe you one!

• The party, the dancing, the BFG awards, and all those costumes... You've seen the pictures, and they were all even more impressive on the night!
I had so many incredible dances on the night, and all the Forum visitors lived up to and exceeded expectations. Extraordinary dances from Sheena my mighty demobabe, Sparkles my forum Queen, FoxyLady my perfect woman, Cheeks who definitely lives up to her avatar name  , and all of you who asked me to dance, I just can't get enough!

• The party after the party, the Champagne, the great jokes, the warm feeling you get from being with friends...

• The 'moving feet with hands' workshop, was great fun to teach and from the many comments I got, long overdue, and for many of you the first time leading / following was actually taught! Thanks for the feedback!

• Tramp's workshop, and those moves (sorry I stole one of them  ) I really loved that leg sweep one... you and Lisa looked great.

• The Turbo Jive workshop despite being the last one in the week-end and expecting everyone to be so tired turned out to be such an incredible laugh, everyone going for it and the smiles when everyone got the Charleston kicks were priceless! :D

• Sunday night's chillout session with Dance Demon at the decks was awesome, with only the Die-hard dancers left and a surprise visit from Mike 'Mr Ceroc' Ellard. Every dance was perfect until I started falling asleep on my partners' shoulders though that was perfect too. :innocent:

Overall a perfect week-end despite small niggles, yes the floor was stickier in the Bells arena than last year (it had just been resealed a few weeks ago) and it's a shame we were short of men for some of the workshops, I really did try to balance the numbers

I'm already working on next year's BFG, so if you missed this one, make sure you're free next year!

Well, I've nearly recovered (although first day back at work was a bit of a struggle  )
I had a fantastic weekend.

Once again a HUGE thankyou to Franck for putting the whole thing together :worthy: :worthy: months of his hard work and organising but boy did it pay off. I can't wait for "BFG - the Sequel" !!!!

I had so many wonderful dances over the weekend - and yet still have a list as long as my arm of people that I never managed to catch for a dance :tears:

So many magic and memorable moments :D
the faces on the people in Tesco's as the Gaylord and I did some drink/sweetie shopping :D
doing Friday's class with Franck, while Adam was juggling with maltesers in the background.
great music from Adam and Sheepy at the Friday party.
my foot massage on Friday night from Lory
watching everyone become bloosier and bloosier at Adam's class.
Lorna's fab musical interpretation workshop and Franck's Russian dance  plus the looks of relief when Lorna explained that the guys didn't have to do it too
seeing all of the great avatar costumes (I need Lisa's boots  ) - especially with Lory carrying CJ's bum about in a carrier bag
Max in full piper's uniforum  starting the evening in style (he must have been melting, what a star!)
Dancing and dancing and dancing
Spinning around the hall on the top of one of the sound equipment boxes
The great wee party afterwards in the Salutation, such fun, my sides were sore laughing
The sheer enjoyment on the faces of everyone who had stayed for the Turbo Jive class.
7 and a half minutes of heaven as the DJ played all of Havana (thanks DD  )

Sunday's party was just fab! So chilled - just perfect after the hectic couple of days

and my thanks to everyone who helped tidy up - Sheepy, Mrs Sheepy, the lovely Roy, Sparkles, Cheeks, Max, Foxylady, Rythm King, Lory and Mr Lory (Steve  )

and a very, very special thankyou to the Gaylord for the kind words, flowers and the bottle of Cava

What a great weekend (even with food poisoning!!).

Didn't really get to dance that much on Friday night after I started to feel unwell, which was a shame, cos Adam and Sheepy were playing some great music.

Missed all of Saturday's classes, which was also a shame, cos I've heard some great reports on Adams and Lorna's classes.

Saturday night was fun - seeing all the people who got dressed up in their avatar costumes. And after I started to feel better, enjoyed a few dances later on in the evening. Can't really say too much about the music - though I do think that the contrast between the styles of the DJs concerned worked well :)

Enjoyed teaching (as always) my class on the Sunday. Thanks to all of you who turned up for it, and I hope that you all enjoyed it as much as I did. Thanks to Lisa for stepping in at the last moment and demo-ing for me. You were great

Finally, Sunday night. A nice chill-out session from Dance Demon. I had a great evening

How ever the balls of my feet are still sore is this normal any tips for a quick recovery?

Don't know about quick tips but massage the feet with a foot moisturiser, it seems to help. A good preventative measure is "party lites" gel insoles which fit into the front of your shoe and act like a shock absorber, since i started using these for dancing and long distance walks i very rarely get sore feet.

now strangely enough I was perusing my very specialist (sic) winter items last night and do infact have a Russian prostitute's fuzzy wuzzy hat that would go perfectly....this item has to be worn pulled down to the eyebrows with matt red lipstick, a scowl, a long dark cashmere coat, and, er, a delicious spray of expensive scent.

I'll bring it next time I'm anywhere you might be and we can practice :D

To extend that sterotype you should also smell of cabbage soup (at least what the scent couldnt mask :) )

Franck said there were votes for loads of people for ****-ups and that you won by one vote, but didnt explain what for! I'd be interested to hear what it was, dunno if the voters actually specified :)

The only one I can remember admitting to on here was when Hipsters moved to Acton for a week... and despite about four reminders during the day I still bl**dy drove to Ealing first.... doh!!!

But I expect there have been others...

As winner, I guess that you're entitled to know just how you managed to win! This category didn't receive many votes, with only 2 people getting more than one (and several people getting just one vote). ChrisA won by getting 2 votes with the following (anonymous!!! ) comments:

"ChrisA - Posting how to get back onto the forum while it was down... ON THE FORUM. doh."

"ChrisA missing irony when suggested Hipsters people were vain. (no idea how to find it!!)"

Jive Brummie got 2 (lesser value votes), one without comment, and one that cannot be put up, since it gives away the identity of the person who made it.

Thanks for the offer of the foot massage from Bill, however you haven't seen my feet!!! So I think I'll go with the 'Party Lites' idea from Jillian.

Thanks folks for all your help.

Just wanted to add my bit and say what an amazing time I had at the BFG!

Franck and Sheena, you know I love you both, but you did such a fantastic job I can't find good enough words to describe how great you both are   - thanks also to the rest of the crew!

So many good bits, can't possibly list them all but just have to say:

Adam, you're the best shot with a malteaser I've seen, and it was delicious to be wrapped up in your legs

CJ, thanks for playing my track, even though I'm sure it was against your better judgement (sorry) - I'll try and pick something better next time!

Thank you so much to all the girlies who put up with dancing with me leading, especially Lisa and Barbara who were willing to be pulled around while I experimented new moves on them.

To Foxylady: thank you for being a fab room-mate, all-round good sport and friend

Sheepie - please teach me some more WCS - you were so patient with me :flower:

And to DS - you're a wonderful dancer and I'm so glad my last dance on Saturday night was with you. You underestimate what a fab dancer you are :worthy:

Can't wait for next year now... what on Earth will I wear...?

Err, um , no, sorry, my mistake...
...and the being rubbed down with butter to be squeezed into your hotel room was all a figment of my imagination too, wasn't it?!

Must keep reality and fantasies separate... must keep them separate...

Phew, think we got away with that one... :o

We're back home at last, and with such a gap away from the forum, I'm sure everything that needs to be said about the BFG has already been said, still . . .

Just wanted to add my bit and say what an amazing time I had at the BFG!

And I must add to that what a great teacher Franck is. OK in Scotland you probably know that already, but having now experienced his teaching in Perth and Glasgow, I can see why Ceroc is so vibrant there.

Sheepie - please teach me some more WCS - you were so patient with me :flower: My pleasure, (and it gave me an excuse to dance with you more  ).

Can't wait for next year now... what on Earth will I wear...?  Please don't get me thinking about latex again!

I agree....

By the way how many sheepy t-shirts do you have? Cuz you still had different ones on Tues and Wed nights too!

 Why thank you, Lindsay, and Danielle. I was constantly amazed at how good all my partners were on the Saturday night, I just wished that there had been more time, (and that I hadn't been aching so much.)

Danielle, you've only seen the tip of the sheepy t-shirt iceberg, I've lost count, but I'm always on the lookout for new designs, I only managed to buy one new one in Scotland, and unlike all the others, it's actually quite stylish, (though it is in the Ceroc colours :really: )

Does Mrs Sheepy have as many sheepy earings as you do t-shirts? Just the one pair sadly, she hunted high and low, and in the end, we were making those in the hotel 1/2 an hour before the event. Seems like there is a market opportunity for creative jewellers out there!
