Hmmm ... although I think £250 is a bit OTT, I wonder if there is a market for a 'high end' event. Although some may not be able to afford it the market place usualy works out if an event is overpriced or not. If you had the cash, and someone had put to gether a really excellent event, would you pay £50 or more? When you consider how much people would pay for a concert ... or that people do shell out a few hundred quid (including transport and accomodation costs) for some events, maybe there is a market.

I would LOVE to run a top class Ball in a great venue with loads of added extras and loads of characters from the MJ world. .... maybe one day ... maybe:waycool:

A Ball is a completely different event to a competition. £50 for a decent ball is completely different.

Windsor once did (and I stand to be corrected) a christmas thingy which was well over £40 maybe nearer £60 ? . The take up first yr good and I understand yr after not so good (more to do with venue not being up to standard not price inc meal etc)

Obviously what you earn has a big bearing on what is too expensive but also what you want

My company would think nothing of spending £250 per person for top place near city include casino entertainment etc etc. This would include meal drinks etc etc I wouldnt pay that for a night

£75 max for one off (inc meal), ceroc champs maybe £30 max ? I have low travelling expenses for ceroc champs however ..

I wouldn't think nothing of spending £300 for southport for long weekend away but i earn ok wage (inc ice cream by sea etc !)

Yes, no doubt about it. But IMHO such an event might suffer more than many already do from the "I'll wait and see who's going" thing. Might benefit from a bit of extra behind the scenes attendee arranging so that it could be launched on the forum / general dance scene with a few well ken't faces popping on the thread straight away to say they are going.

BTW, I don't agree that this SHOULD be the only way to get something new or different off the ground , I just think it might be, from watching how events have gathered momentum in the past.
