To the Immortal Memory of Scotland's National poet,
Robert Burns, born this day 25th January 1760.

'Is there for honest poverty
That hangs his head and a' that ?
The coward slave we pass him by,
We daur be puir for a' that.
For a' that and a' that,
Our toils obscure and a' that,
The rank is but the guinea stamp,
The man's the gowd for a' that.

What though on hamely fare we
dine,
Wear hoddingrey and a' that,
Gie fool's their silks,and knaves
their wine,
A man's a man for a' that.
For a' that and a' that,
Their tinsel show and a' that,
The honest man, tho' ne'er sae puir,
Is king o' men for a' that.

A man can mak' a belted knight,
A marquis, duke and a' that,
But an honest man's aboon his micht,
Gude faith, he maunna fa' that!
For a' that and a' that,
Their dignities and a' that,
The pith o' sense, and pride o' worth,
Are higher ranks than a' that.

Then let us pray that come it may,
As come it will for a' that.
That sense and worth o'er a' the earth,
May bear the gree and a' that,
For a' that and a' that.
It's coming yet for a' that,
When man to man, the world o'er,
Shall brithers be for a' that.

Given that Saint Johnston is an old name for Perth, do any of the guys at the Perth classes fit the description in this verse from Burns' "The Ploughman"?

“I hae been east, I hae been west,
I hae been at Saint Johnston,
The boniest sight that er’e I saw
Was th’ ploughman laddie dancin’.
Snaw-white stockins on his legs,
And siller buckles glancing;
A gude blue bonnet on his head,
And O but he was handsome!”_

Happy Birthday, Rabbie.
