I was working out how to provide a URL for a specific post on the Forum recently (as opposed to just pointing to a thread). Was trying to direct someone to an item which was near the bottom of a page, to save them time. The formula was:
1. Find the unique ID number of the post you want to point at. A way to do this is move the mouse over the "Report this post to a moderator" or "Logged" hotspots at the end of the post. The browser's status bar should show a URL address - the number at the end of that address is the post ID.
2. To provide a link to that specific post, use this URL:
http://www.cerocscotland.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=999#post999
replacing 999 both times with the ID of the post you want to point at.
There's probably an easier way to do this, though - is there, moderators?
PS if you're really bored :o , this method helps you answer all-important questions like "What was the 1000th post?" etc.
