Has anyone else heard the rumour that the HMS President T-Dance's are back for a limited period.

It must have been 8 years since I did one of them. Anyone else round here used to go on those?

FANTASTIC

and Wow ! My first ever dance with Viktor (my original claim to fame) was in a 'Bus Stop' on the President

Sticky slopey floors, cramped dancing and freezing on deck although the cakes weren't bad - yes please  bring it back

A couple of times. I loved them. The dance floor then was cambered, quite a challenge.

I, too have heard that they are going to re-commence. I suspect they will need a bigger boat.

From the ceroc london website :

After a 5 year absence, CerocLondon are reinventing the Tea dance.

After Hammersmith this was the most successful event in the Ceroc calendar, but owing to insurance problems we had to stop the event. Well we're delighted to tell you that for a temporary period only we're back on board.

Come and enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of cake in between dances. There's a ballroom for the dancing a gun room for the tea and cake and a quarterdeck (the outside bit) for gossiping.

This is truly a great event and the booking is only temporary before it's turned into a casino and therefore you don't want to miss out.

22nd February
Boarding 2pm (freestyle until 6pm)

Cost £8 with membership card (includes tea and cake)

Address : Victoria Embankment, London EC4Y 0HJ

A quick plug (and boats need those)

The HMS President will be a great thing to do, especially if Mike and Linda are teaching - they are great fun teachers and have always been so friendly to me in the past.

In my experience they always make people feel welcome and valued.

Top respect for them

How big is 2500 sq ft exactly??

Does anyone know the dimensions of any venues that we could compare it too. I would love to come down for that but I wont if its going to be too crowded.

Size doesn't matter. It's how popular it is. IE Hammersmith this weekend.

Usually i wouldnt bother about size but if I am travelling a distance and the event is on more than once then it just seems a bit more sensible to travel for one of the future events if the initial one is going to be absolutely packed.

If it is the same dance floor I remember, my guess would be about 68ft by 37ft to make that figure. It is very possible that the shape of the room was different to my perception due to optical illusion.

In the summer it was such a social occasion that many would be sitting and chatting eating tea and cake, and many others would be chatting on deck and admiring the view and ambience, so the venue could cater for far more than the size suggests. Feb ??

Ahh!! I see what you mean by a social event now. Didnt realise there were different areas etc for sitting and such.
I was under the impression it was just a dancefloor

That will teach me to read things more carefully nest time :sorry
