Something that was highlighted to me by another forum member...

To log in to the Ceroc booking system you need:

- First Initial
- Surname
- Date Of Birth

And that's it!!!

Now in that age of social networking, these three things are ready available to anyone.

And with these login details, you get access to the persons personal details such as private home address, telephone/mobile numbers...

Surely this isn't right...

I was quite amazed when this was pointed out to me!!

Any chance of some sort of password system please?

I mentioned this to them a couple of years and and it's not changed. Having said that, I know my personal information on there is outdated (wrong address, etc) and suspect others are the same. Doesn't make it any more acceptable though.

as the Data Protection Act requires that businesses take "... appropriate technical and organisational measures ... against unauthorised or unlawful processing of personal data and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, personal data." it may well be illegal. It doesnt sound like there is much thought to security at all, and social networking aside, any charismatic individual could get the information required from people by subtly asking them or their friends at a ceroc venue. Stalkers paradise.

All Ceroc members have a memebership number - couldn't they use that? Seems an obvious solution.
