View Full Version : I am an idiot!

I did my Christmas cards for my neighbours last night. I don’t know everyones name; you know how it is (my xmas card list was something like *Nutty Nurse* *The Prostitutes* *The Voyeurs* *The Old Hag* - these names are all invented by my loving father when describing which of my neighbours he’s encountered that day while I’ve been at work). Anyway, when my street was built they miscalculated how many houses they could fit in hence the numbers are all topsy turvy. I decided I’d write the same in each card and leave the fronts blank, then write on the numbers as I walked round; good plan – or so I thought.

I got to the end of my delivery route and found I had one card left over. Odd I thought as I’d counted out exactly the amount required. Then a sinking feeling swept over me when I rememberd I’d had another blank card on my desk yesterday at work. One of the rep’s was supposed to give me an address to write on the front. The card I had in my hand was one of my robins. Indeed the card for the rep was NOT on my desk this morning hence, someone in my street has got a hand addressed card with “Happy Xmas from Dave at Aspen....” inside.

a) Don’t know which neighbour, and
b) That neighbour may think I’ve excluded them from my list

Now there’s a pickle!

Pammy, like yours truly, is so super-efficient at her work that she gets it done in double-quick time, leaving her to her own devices (or should that be deviances?) in the afternoons.

Well that's our story (innit Pammy?) and we're sticking to it  :D

Pamster - what you did is switch off during something that was routine and is quite easy to do (also called an unforced error)

You feel a complete twerp when you do something like that. It's the same for experienced dancers during a class sometimes because they know how to do the move, but their mind switches off and lead something different

Totally changing the subject of the thread, but all the posts I do, are out of hours when I am home. I work shifts so that's why I am on at a multitude of different hours.

If I used work systems I would be given a "clip round the earhole" as they log each site you go and the time spent so chat rooms are an absolute no-no.

Depending on the company concerned, they usually have a server which logs the site you have accessed and the time that a person spends on it (in seconds). Sites you access will also chuck what is called a "cookie" in your pc or in the case of Windows NT your profile under "temporary internet files"

They have to do this by law to protect their systems from "inappropriate content" and hazardous information (viruses etc.) getting on to their systems"

You'll find out next year, leave all your cards till late on Christmas Eve, and see which neighbour hasn't given you one. (With or without an appliance).

We erer recently informed that our work would be checking our emails and monitoring our internet use. This is because some of our work systems have been impacted by people downloading moves/music etc. The other reason was beacuse several staff were running a porn site on the company computers....
