Why don't you ask the powers that run this board to put a sticky up or make a new category in Social to find a man to share with. Allowing at least forumites to book with someone they may vaguely know or who someone they know may know (cue extended descriptions gag).

We've been thinking about this, and one very good idea (Lory's!) is to use a poll.
So here's an example of how it might work. We'd be very grateful for feedback...

---------------------------------------------
This is the Chalet Share Search thread to help you find someone to share with at the Squelch weekender (38-40th February 2010).

Men can help women who would otherwise be stuck on the waiting list and need to find someone to book with. For this particular weekend, you can also save 33% by booking as a gender-balanced group (terms and conditions apply (http://www.network.ceroc.com/Applications/OrganisationManager/admin/booker/wizard/discountConditions.php?scheme=1)) if you book early enough.

---------------------------------------------
How it works:

Vote on the poll to indicate who you want to share with
If you want, you can also post on the thread to say a bit about yourself and details of your booking if you already have one
Contact people you're interested in (via PM)
Once you've found someone to share with, please use the "Withdraw Vote" option and change your vote to the "All Sorted Now" option, to make it easier for others
If you're looking for more than one person, you can change your vote as you fill places. You can also vote more than once if you're looking for a mix of people.

Note that this thread may be moderated more heavily than usual to remove off-topic posts and make it easier to use.

Disclaimer
This thread is provided to help forum members, but if you do agree to share with someone as a result of finding them on here, no responsibility is accepted if things go wrong, for whatever reason.

I have a booking for a 4-place chalet at Squelch, but unfortunately two of my friends have eloped to Paraguay, and the third (who was married to one of them) has left in hot pursuit so won't be at the weekend either.

I paid £80 a head, and would prefer to share with vegetarians.

Oops - got one of the options wrong 1st time and changed it.
Northants Girly isn't really "a male looking for a female to book with"

OK, confused me a little at the start but clicking on poll results makes it a lot easier to understand.

I like this as long as people change the poll so you know they are not looking anymore.

I imagine PM would take care of budget, club etc.

Could be problematic going through a number of the women to find one to book with, you could end up with a poll choice and then us men just posting

Want to book club, let us know, too many of you to go through. First come first served.

I have no friends (well, none willing to put up with my snoring) thus am seeking female for chalet share (selflessly maintaining gender balance at the weekend as a whole) ideally with naturist tendencies and a fondness for rubber (gloves for the washing up).

This is probably the most important thing, to making the system work.

Also, as a side, people will be able to see that the system is working and therefore be more encouraged to use it.

The good thing is, if the 33% cashback system continues*, there's also advantages for the men to use this system too

*I wonder how well it worked from Ceroc's POV and if they'll use it again?

I like this as long as people change the poll so you know they are not looking anymore.:yeah: But I think any system we could come up with would rely on that.

The advantage of a poll is that you can see a list at the top, rather than having to work your way through a long thread of posts.
