Norm these are just pop up ads from the internet and can just be ignored as junk.

To make sure, download ad-aware from www.lavasoft.com and AVG antivirus from http://free.avg.com both are free and will sort out any viruses or malware you have.

It did look more serious there were red signs flashing and it was telling me what was being affected and where. I have done a full scan and nothing was found...............bloody computers, I was really worried.

If you had clicked the warning no doubt it would have taken you to a web page where you could buy software to 'remove' the problem. It's all a big scam.

have a read here http://www.scamwatch.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/749494

Also run this, CCleaner, spybot, also Avast is a good free antivirus (AVG above is good too).

Once you ahve then run them on full scan and check if you have anything.

Lastly download Site advisor or Web of Trust. These are add-ons for I.T / Firefox that will tell you if your on a safe site etc. Highly recommend these :nice:

Thank you so much, it wasn't nice, it looked like all my files were disappearing before my very eyes. It kept me up until gone 2am to run a thorough scan on the computer but it looked like, as you said, just a scam.

...........and I just love this forum the wealth of knowledge from everyone really puts your mind at rest :flower:

Yeah it can freak you out a bit, the site advisor or web of Trust addions make it alot easier to not get them though.. As these make it very clear (big red x on google searches) or a bit red box at teh botton of the web site.

Good that you where lucky with it this time, hopefully the above will help for the next time :nice:

and to counter all the helpful and correct advice above some completely useless unhelpful advice.. I've not used this particular (mis)quote in a while ..

I say we take off and nuke the entire Machine from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

another slightly more helpful quote

DON'T PANIC
