Can anyone recommend a good free downloader for YT Videos? The ones I have used previously no longer work, I presume as YT keep finding ways to thwart their methods.

Looks like youtube have made made it so you can't capture vids like it used to work with keepvid.com etc.
No doubt in a week or so they would have worked out how to get around it.
If your really desperate, try finding some screen capture software. Downloads.com is a good place to start :nice:

This may be of use to you:
Youtube to Video Converter (Instant Download) (http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/downloads/download-free-YouTube-to-iPod-converter.htm)
I personally use that and it works well.

I've been using this one for a couple of years now - works a treat
you paste in the url of the video you want to download it - and it downloads the video in a .flv format and then you select what format you want to convert it - it generally names it with a good name as well
sounds a little bit of a fiddle but the results are good
also works with Google Video, Yahoo Video according to the website

I think mine does. I have no evidence though. But I don't see why it wouldn't.

Do you really think I would use Windows?
Anyway, you don't need any new application if you use my method.

I use ZamZar - http://www.zamzar.com, and it works pretty well. If you're using FF though, there are loads of scripts which can download YT content, and Facebook stuff as well.
