There are some private videos on a Facebook Group site, where I am a member, that I would like to download in permanent form.

Can anybody explain how this can be done.

Thanks.

Some videos can be downloaded by installing the Firefox browser and a browser extension to capture files.

and pick from the add-ons.

Yeah. I've got DownloadHelper (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006)installed. Never used it though...

I only downloaded it last night, so haven't had a chance to really explore it fully but its FREE and only takes a second or two to d/l, so have a go, you've got nothing to loose :)

I have used it to save many clips from youtube. It uses .flv (Flash video) format. There is another add-on that can convert the .flv files to mpeg, viewable in Microsofts video player (and others).

I did use it to save videos from facebook, but I do not know if it works on all on there, which is why I did not say more. (+ I needed to get some sleep)

As it is a group you might not know the person so you can go with the other suggestions. If it was a friend I'd probably get them to send the original. I'd hate to think that people download the Facebook version of photos I upload when they could get a much better version if they wanted :waycool:.

Be careful about googling fb video downloader scripts for ff. There are a lot of naughty script kiddies out there who write malware and post it on Greasemonkey (where most of the scripts are hosted)

Malware is crap like Coolwebsearch etc which annoying morons create and which infect your PC. Greasemonkey is here: http://www.greasespot.net/

Great for modifying Firefox!
