Got a friend going to Nice, France. Where can I find her some Modern Jive to do while she's away?Ceroc has classes in Marseille, you can check out the cerocfrance.com website (http://www.cerocfrance.com/) for full details.

I'm off teaching there next week-end, a series of 4 Focus workshops and really looking forward to it. I don't think there is anything in Nice at the moment.

HTH.

I went to the Marseille venue last summer while on holiday in France. Isabelle ,the teacher there, is lovely and made us feel right at home.

The class is run just like a typical Ceroc class - but in French which was bizarre at first until you heard the odd english word such as "Arm Jive" and then it all made sense. Everyone i met was friendly and the venue is right by the beach so i would recommend making a day of it if you are in the vicinity.

My only criticism of the venue was that it is in a smoking bar and unlike UK venues, the French venue is open to anyone, not just Ceroc members. This meant that there were quite a few people in there who came to socialise, not dance and sat at the tables watching and chatting amongst themselves. This odd at first and made figuring out who was there to dance and who wasn't a bit difficult. Luckily for me although i didn't speak much French, once they realised i could already dance i didn't need to ask anyone, they just came to me.

As it's been a year since i was there it might have changed but all i can say is that i had a great time when i was there and would definitely try and go again if i was near Marseille

Email Isabelle directly letting her know your plans and she will help with directions etc isabelle@cerocfrance.com

Hope this helps

Marseille is a good 1.5 hour drive from Nice, and about €15 each way for the toll. Allow a bit of time to navigate the traffic in Marseille as well. Aix is a bit closer, looks like she's opened a venue there as well.

Other options:
Rock Swing 06 - cours de danses des Alpes Maritimes Ã* Cannes, danse Ã* Cannes la Bocca, Mandelieu, Sophia Antipolis, Valbonne et Nice, (http://www.rockswing06.com/) - lindy/boogie/balboa, and some freestyles.

Network that Works&#153 (http://www.networkthatworks.com) - forum type thingy, has a couple of dance groups

Ricardo - Prof de Salsa et Danses des caraibes (http://ricardo.salsa.free.fr) - salsa in Antibes, only there doesn't seem to be any info about courses at the moment.
