I developed a theory last night at Berko, that men wearing white T-shirts / short-sleeved shirts are appallingly bad at floorcraft.

All of the bouncers / jumpers / blinkered dancers seemed to have that in common - weird but true.

Anyone else noticed this?

I found it was the ones who wore t-shirts tucked in to jeans.

Strange, but it is something I noticed before.

Well unless he's the exception that proves the rule, I danced with someone at Putney on Saturday who usually wears either white or black short sleeved t-shirts and is one of the best leads I've danced with. His floorcraft is excellent, he woudn't know what a bounce was if you put him on a trampoline and he is one of the cheeriest dancers I've met - always looks like he's having a good time no matter what I manage to do. No idea what his name is, though I often see him at freestyles and always try to dance with him if I can. :nice:

So sorry DJ, I disagree with your observation. :flower:

Maybe it's just the white is more noticeable, where darker colours give their wearers a bit more of a 'stealth' capability. :)

I think how you look and how you dress can influance whether people think your a good dancer or not.

I always wear long jeans and tight tops to make my frame look bigger and legs longer.

Thats why dancers dress up how they do for Champs and comps. Sequins are hideous things, I hate them, but if you had two people standing next to each other, one in jeans and t-shirt and one in sequins, most people would assume the sequined on is the better dancer of the two.

Noooooooooh

but now that you have come to mention it.... may be ... yes

it is a bit like white transit van drivers.

The mind can play tricks on me and make me "prejudiced".

I try and see only happy wonderful people all around me who can dance beautifully. This works fine .................. until i leave home.

An interesting theory on some observation.

I only have two colours of T shirts for dancing. They are either black or white and I try to stick to one colour per evening because it makes loading the washing machine at the end of the evening, or weekender, much simpler.

I wonder if it would be the white shirts that would make my floorcraft bad or that I would select white shirts when I was feeling in a bouncy/bad floorcraft mood.

It is a similar situation that I seem to find with those flat soled ballet pump shoes (usually jewelled) that ladies wear. It seems that MOST of the ladies that wear them are the most appalling dancers that seem to have incredible difficulty staying upright. But how do you know if it is the shoes that are causing them to fall all over the place for no apparent reason OR do they select these shoes because they fall over for no apprent reason and these flat shoes give them the best chance of not falling over.

In both the case of the shirts and the ballet shoes you can observe the effect but there are a number of possible causes of that affect.

Isn't the new England rugby kit designed to daze and confuse?

Maybe there is something in that dance related too.

Following the lines of what was said in earlier posts -

Do they play like that because of the new kit, or

Do they wear the new kit because they know they are going to play like that?

:really:

even before I saw WF's reply, as soon as I finished reading your first post DJ, I thought: 'there we go, now DJ posts like WF'. I was smiling by the end of it, but seeing WF's reply just made me laugh out loud.
Am I the only one ? :innocent:

oh, and yes, I am voluntary not dignifying that theory with a comment

I am converting them all over to my way of thinking one by one. Thought I would start with the mods.

Next on the list is Mike Ellard. This will ensure that the man spin is renamed the Woodface spin and is done 7-12 times and covers the distance of a columbian.

I alternate my shirts through the evening black / white. So, working on your theory you need to wait for a black period before asking for as dance :D :D

Pavement Art, this is probably why the choice of colours matters.

If you have never danced with someone before, you will always grab people based on their looks.

Who would you ask for a dance?........

off topic but to answer your question

The old lady.

The shop mannequin is a bit awkwark to dance with, what with her arms rigid by her sides, and her legs that don't move. A chair would be better to dance with than her.

The old lady suffers the same problems though. Vandals covered the bench in Glue moments before she sat down. She and bench now come as a package.

Would it be fair to say you haven't seen Strictly Ballroom?

Love the scene where the parents show them how to really do the Paso Doble :respect:
