Maybe I am missing something but I don't yet recall seeing any feedback on the Jivetime Bognor weekend that's just been and gone. Did anyone from the forum attend? Was it worthwhile?

I went, unfortunately the minute I arrived I threw my guts up and wasn't feeling ok until the sunday night..

I had 5 dances on the saturday night cos I just needed to get out! I had to turn down one lady because I was exhausted... Politely said "Sorry, but I've been really ill over the last couple of days, I'm trying to take it steady, I'll come and find you later" and she looked at me with absolute revulsion as if to say "HOW VERY DARE U!!"

Sunday night was better for me however, had many fab dances, got a few leads aswell whoop! Blues room was very swingy and "happy" most of the time! I spent most of the time in the main room because of it!

Really enjoyed the Sunday night, just wish I hadn't have thrown up thursday & friday..

As for the blue room, they made a shortcut for it so you didn't have to go outside, just down a corridor and into the bluesroom!

Well Bognor was quite different this time everything was open on site as there was 2500
people doing a tribute weekend they had the large upstairs venue which was rammed each night.
The jive weekend was downstairs in the Reds Venue and also a adjacent room which was the swing and blues room.
There were only half the number of dancers of previous years and i have to say i was a bit dissapointed at the poor / lack of preparation of both dance venues.
However I have to say I had a wonderful time.
Reason superb music in the blues / Swing room:worthy:
I thought John Ford and Nelsons and indeed the majority of the music in the blues room was superb. the music in the Jive room was also a good mix and everybody was so friendly, worthy: I just had to dance, even when my legs said rest.
I had so many good dances, I would like to thank all the ladies who danced with me.:flower:

RANT
Bognor has to be the best location. the best venue think about it large Upstairs dancefloor downstairs 2 dance floors + the potential of Jaks there is room for 2500 dancers easy.:yum:
In addition the majority of accommodation is generally of a good standard and there are also many none dance facilities.
Sombody with ambition should book this venue for the Largest and most professionally run dance week end come on Jive addiction Do it :yeah:

Hope some of you ladies save me a dance at southport:blush:

I went I got a late place and I thought it was great, you could choose between dancing to modern jive, going along the corridor to swing or Blues or upstairs to see one of the bands. I saw Edwin Stars son doing a great funk set on Friday night, Saturday was fun with Boney M and Sunday afternoon with Shalamar and jivers showing off big time. I missed sadly Rose Royce Sunday night because I lost track of time enjoying the modern jive. Overall I think the venue was great, now considering Butlins has caused the problem for Franco, he did remarkably well. The old blues room has gone and the main room had that great Camber feeling. Plus with sea right along side venue, the sea was like a mill pond and it was a warm spring like weekend.

Due to limits Butlins put on Franco Im told he could only have a maximum of 700 dancers but the place was till buzzing for size of venue. But Im mistyfied what you mean about "poor/lack of preparation" did I miss something. The whole site was buzzing, new food halls open, bars & fast food, take away currries and proper Pizza house but I went for meal deal which was terrific value for a hungry dancer

Ive been to many of Jive Times events now, rarely have I felt ever let down in anything they do and really enjoy these weekenders. The variety of workshops is excellent and freestyle dancing at all hours. As the original modern jive weekender, many of the top teachers have been there first and got there big break. Its great there is choice now, I have been to many different weekenders as we now have an abundance of jive weekenders now always, we are spoilt for choice which leaves us perhaps more crictical and too comparing between events rather then getting on and really enjoying them when there??

I went with Cristina to the event and as always had a great time teaching and socialising. Im always unsure when teaching west coast swing what the level is going to be like, but I have to say everyone turned out in their numbers and had a great time. The blues room was brilliant although it was very dark but i guess that was for atmosphere. The event was well organised and the atmosphere was great. Big thanks to Tonia for helping Cristina and myself with Tandem Swing. Great fun - just what dancing should be

I have been to many different weekenders as we now have an abundance of jive weekenders now always, we are spoilt for choice which leaves us perhaps more crictical and too comparing between events rather then getting on and really enjoying them when there?? Weekenders can be expensive, not just in cost but in precious leave from work as most take Friday/part of Friday and Monday off. So if someone pays their money and doesn't get what they expected they may feel they have a right to be critical and with the choice we have now, we need to make comparisons to make informed decisions about which weekenders we go to. There can be too much 'Woohoo, everything was wonderful' type of feedback.

Yes, of course, even if its not as good as you hoped, you make the best of it and enjoy it, but you might not rush back.

Each of us has to decide what is important to us, and choose what weekender to go on based on that. Some people don't care what the weekender is like, they go because all their friends are going - that's what's important to them. Others decide based on distance or cost. For me whether its a gender balanced event and what sort of music is likely to be played are two key factors as I can adapt to a lot of the other things but need availability of people to dance with and the sort of music I want to dance to.
