I'm now wondering who the Joan Collins lookalike is, and who DeeCee is... spookily, CeeCee was also there on Friday, I hope they didn't meet as the alphabet would probably have collapsed or something :)

This is quite an entertaining blog of jive/ceroc experience Entertaining, indeed.

I especially like this tip he passes on, allegedly from "The Master":

2. Stay loose
This is perhaps the most complex and deep part of dancing. It is important for both a man and particularly a woman. What this means, is that the arms should be loose (I call them 'spaghetti arms') to enable all the possible maneouvers in the easiest way. (In my experience, maybe 10% of women have perfectly 'spaghetti' arms - it's quite a rarity and it does not correspond with dancing experience - there is slightly more correlation with age). I keep looking for a wink or a rofl, but can't find one. :what:

Otherwise, good fun.

Oh god.

It's going to be a "Woodface" all over again.

I think that needs a definition in the glossary.

Hi there - thanks for your feedback. :)

Er....yes.....it's actually my Blog.

And who/what is Woodface? Apologies - I'm a bit new to all this.......!

The lastest post is about Moonglow on Saturday. Berko Sunday to follow.

9 nights in a row - and tomorrow I go to see my GP about my addiction.

Yeah my 'spaghetti arms' reference needs some refinement - not quite the appropriate analogy..!....:)

Cheers, DeeCee

Er....yes.....it's actually my Blog.In which case, do you not think your original post:

This is quite an entertaining blog of jive/ceroc experience:

I have no problem with you posting a link to your blog as long as you're up front about it. Heck, one of the moderators has a blog about his MJ experiences. But please don't play the "here's an interesting site/blog I found which is actually mine, but I'm not going to tell you" game. Not only does it smack of dishonesty, but given you're new to the forum and your first post was to a blog, I think most of us suspected you were really the blog author.

Yes - I agree with you.

 I'm a bit new to this.........and haven't really used forums before.

And.......maybe I just wanted someone, somewhere to visit it.....

Please feel free to delete this thread as you wish, which may be the best idea.

Best Regards

Yes - I agree with you.

 I'm a bit new to this.........and haven't really used forums before.Don't worry about it. The point is, there's really no need to hide that you're the author - as a favourite author of mine wrote:

Stand tall, and tell the truth.

And.......maybe I just wanted someone, somewhere to visit it.....Well, you've got that wish. One bit of advice I would give you - now that you've told everyone here about your blog, you should assume that whenever you blog about someone you danced with, that person will hear about it (even if you didn't mention their name). The forum has a pretty large membership, and lots of us know our respective dance scenes pretty well. You may find discretion is the better part of valour.

For what it's worth, I don't see any reason for this thread to be deleted.

Nor do I.

Hope you stick around, read some more, and post some more. :)

You might even find out the truth behind spaghetti arms. ;)

Yeah you should have done something more like:

There is this really cool blog at http://ducasi.org/blog/ about dancing done by a friendly moderator on this forum.

(Right, Ducasi, now talk about my blog* :D).

*On second thoughts, don't bother, I never get around to updating it.

Hey, I've just come across an entertaining blog of a passionate dancer here...

http://wayofthedance.blogspot.com/

Check it out! ;)

(I'm currently guilty of not updating my blog as well. Haven't finished my Beach Ballroom write-up, and since then I've visited JJ's once, and had a weekend in Dundee and Perth.)

Ok - guys thank you for bearing with me. I agree with all the comments - and sorry for not being up front to begin with - I guess because I am not (yet!) part of the scene as it were, I lacked some confidence in being able to say 'THIS IS ME'.

Yes - on the confidentiality/privacy area, that is something I want to be careful about, which is why I have used letters/codes for names. I appreciate that this does not always guarantee anonymity - and I don't want to either put anyone down or put anyone in a difficult position. I think my very first blog, a year ago, did have some names in and I will update that. I think it needs to be carefully done - and I will watch it. On the 'Joan Collins' thing - that is what I thought when I looked into her eyes - although she probably looks a million miles different! Just My Imagination? Probably. She was fun to dance with - as most ladies are. I couldn't tell you anything more as I can't even remember - sorry - although I think I would recognise her now (I hope!).

If you have any more thoughts/ideas to make sure it stays on the straight and narrow then please let me know.

I'm just trying to express my enjoyment and life enhancing experience of Jive/Ceroc and how I feel.

Thanks again, :)

Oddly, in the last fortnight I've had two different people tell me, unprompted, that I need to keep my arms looser. If only I had read your blog first, eh?

I, the "Trouble gang" and a few others were at Cheshunt last week - we were the ones being snooty and cliquey (!) at the front of the stage. Say "Hi" next time :)

Thanks David - I just posted my introduction.

Well - near the front right of the stage at Cheshunt I distinctly remember having great dances with a very tall lady (over 6') and a smaller blonde lady - who was with a partner - was that part of your 'trouble clique'?

Or was it you who ate all the mince pies?

Cheers,

Speaking of cliques, there is a small reference to a clique - or a reference to a small clique (.....cliquette?) in my mildly entertaining blog at

http://ceroc.blogspot.com/ (see the Jack Johnson no.6)

Oh......and currently at No. 7 in the countdown of top 10 dance memories of 2006.
