DJ just couldnt wait for this thread, so ive started it for him. I'm looking forward to his review. He said he was off forum this weekend so of course he must be at Camber - especially since its a No Wristband Weekender. Probably cunningly disguised as a button again. Or something. Not to say that actually not being there would hinder him from posting a review.

I broke one of his weekender rules (http://www.cerocscotland.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10323) so I'm exempt from posting a review myself this time.

Apart from going wrong on the way home and adding 12 miles to my journey I blame 'Tom Tom' and not because i was chatting on phone  , overall i had a great weekend

Some of the down bits

Friday music upstairs , pants , generally other nights fine. seemed very warm upstairs on friday. ok pants is OTT it wasnt to my taste

some classes i walked out on but when they take 20 mins to try an organise how 100 people walk around in a circle big enough for 50 (quick step) i just get bored

Good bits

Amazed i could still park on site at 10pm friday with a fair few spaces left, a benefit of more people car sharing ??

WB birthday bash and the bar area there generally over the weekend it was just great

Lovely dances with forumites and non forumites and many many repeat request with some

I didnt win the Euro millions or the lottery so my idea of having a free weekender in Vegas will have to wait im afraid

ps the can can was fun , if they told me i could get to wear a womens dress id have been up for it :nice:

Best 'peoples' cabaret I seen  they were superb and only after a one hour class - well done to a great teacher Tas (of Adam & Tas)

I was working most of the weekend - even missed a great party :tears: but the cake was yummy (thanks) loved Cruella's cake too (double yummy)

Music Sunday night was the bestest :worthy: :respect: :worthy: Trampy you excelled yourself :respect: in fact all the DJ's were sublime Sunday night :worthy: it was so hard to leave but had to be at work at 8:30am :tears: (left at 4:15am  )

Had some awsome dances too - thank you guys  (espcially with Ducassi - wow is he good these days  )

I was really grumpy Friday & Saturday (the gremlins took over my personality :tears: ) took some happy pills on Sunday and had a ball

Will report more later :flower:

well i had a fantastic time. Sunday was the best night by far, less women and plenty of dances, music was also fantastic. Thanks to Witty, had many faces put to the names and had some really great dances too. Ducasi saved my standing around many a time and he suffered greatly from my stalk and grab technique as he had not learnt the run quick in other direction counter defence move....:D

downsides to the weekend was -
1.the corpse - most people know who this guy is but if you dont, he is an old man who literally scares the bejeezers out of me. Danced with him in Ealing three times dont intend to do it again ever.
2. missed most of Witty's birthday party as got stuck in Rye.
3. Forgot my camera :tears:
4. not enough men.

great bits.

1. Roger Chin - lovely sin class
2. Ducasi - lovely dancer
3. Witty, - fantastic leader,, what a man :yum:
oh and she was an absolute love introducing me to all
4. Steve (barryshnikov)- dancing with you made my weekend. such a pleasure
5. Treble sin class with double trouble and spin dryer,,, few blushes there
6. lots of hugs all round.

Anyway guys, for you that were there and that i had the pleasure to meet and dance with,, it was fantastic and roll on the next one.

Wot there was a Caberet too?

I was stuck in the bar dancing with gorgeous women till I had a wobbly moment and woke up at 7.30 am Sunday Morning - Witty's comment fitted admirably and yes I probably am a Tw@t. Damn Damn Damn - The dances before I died were good though!

Sunday was good but I had to make up for not seeing Saturday very much.

The last few times I climbed the south face of the Eiger going to the main hall very killers though. Anyone know a man from the Stannah lift company?
Maybe we can get them in to fit a couple temporarily over Jive events for old'uns like me!

Lost shoes, fleece, temporarily lost keys but did loose deposit, tried to loose bathmat, did loose dance bag until Witty Courier Services (hey good initials) delivered it to Heathrow, lost virginity (hadn't shared a chalet before) but hey it was fun.

Learnt a few things about me too!
But didn't learn any more moves but no change there I 'spose.

Found a desire to go and buy a Wet Coat so I may be heading to Twickers Wednesdays to see what that's all about.

Ta to anyone who followed me on the floor, I can't remember a bad dance!

Was only able to make the Sunday night.

The standard of Dancers was amazing. Esp after 4am in the 'Blues Room'.

Didn't have one bad or even Mediocre dance.

I am hurting soooo much today though.

At 9pm there are 64 steps you have to climb, i notice as the night went on it gets harder, so i counted at the end and there was 124 steps, sorry for the queue building up behind me

On Saturday, there was a unconfirmed rumour amongst those of us who weren't at Camber that Franco was in fact offering free tickets to anyone who could come along at the last minute.

Was this true?

My first weekender and I bloomin' loved it - had a real blast. I was one of the fools doing the cabaret in a pair of curtains from the chalet. The lesson with Taz was such a giggle and loved performing it on the Sat evening.

Had sooooooooo many quality dances, loved the blues room and managed to dance til 4.30am Fri, 7.15am Sat and 5.55am Sun - feeling it now though haha.

Seem to have been more knackered today after 12 odd hours of dancing than I was after the whole of Bliss.

Thought i would be fine when i got up this morning untill i tried walking down some stairs. Driving was agony.

Don't think i will go to Hayes tonight. will prob have to just keep it to Salomons on Wed and Bromley on Thurs as I have to demo with Virginia.

I couldn't make the Ceroc offering at Camber in September, so I thought I would give my old mate Franco another go having decided 18 months ago never to return (a 2 hour registration process!) - a free ticket however is of course difficult to resist.

Overall I enjoyed the weekend, but only because I had some nice dances and caught up with some people I hadn't seen in an age.

However there was simply so many things that are inferior compared with the Ceroc weekender I'm not sure whether I would ever go again unless Franco overhauls his events and invests some money.

The temporary floor was not only terrible, it was actually dangerous. After doing events at Camber for 10 years is it so difficult to sort out a floor.

The music upstairs I thought was dreadful all weekend, and by the number of people making requests it was clear that this was a majority view.

This was the quietest event that I have been to at camber and it's clear that the market can't sustain 4 events. This does mean of course that parking is less of a problem, and there is more room to dance, but the weekend loses some of it's buzz.

The Thursday night arrival was a wash-out with 30 people turning up early. Great if you want to avoid some traffic, but not so great if you think you're going to get an extra nights dancing.

The extra touches that Ceroc offers like a welcome gift, water when you leave, a snazzy booklet, more workshops in more rooms, more DJs and teachers, a DVD that you can take home with you and just a generally better presented weekender makes a huge difference and no matter how you look at it, it represents better value for money.

If this event is anything to go by Franco's events have a shelf-life unless he puts more back or reduces his prices in line with Ceroc or of course continues to offer free places.

Have to agree.

Was told that the Jive Time events were better than the ceroc ones.

In the short time i was at Camber this time round, It just didn't seen as good.

The temp floor (esp in the blues room) was a nightmare. Could Hardly walk on it without tripping. Having said that the real floor in the blues room is brilliant (comparable only to Northfleet for its quickness).

Ceroc is very comercial though where as the Jivetime event is more a comming together of diffrent federations, styles and teachers.

I found the dancers better this weekend than the Bliss do. I think this is because the people who teach Leroc and other styles of modern jive, often have other styles under their belt. My one time Teacher, Adam Maple, is a prime example of that, teaching both Latin and Modern jive in Brighton. Where as Ceroc teachers are trained, taught and teach Ceroc.

I don;t think there has been many ceroc freestyle events where I have danced with dancers who specialise in Tango, Blues and I even Hip Hop.

The little touches at Bliss were nice like the Mug, booklet and Mike giving out water at the end (though it would have been nicer if he had walked around the dance floor in the evenings giving them out :-) )

Brilliant company.
Some great dances.
Some fun lessons.

Thursday arrival worked well -- got down late Thursday, and a gentle start to the weekend on Friday wandering in to Rye for a few last minute provisions, etc.

The floors were ok, the parquet style floor in the blues room wasn't smooth -- but probably only as bad as the metal rails in the floor at Woking.

Free water good.

The sound system in the main hall seemed to be problematic -- a lot of fussing during lessons trying to get the teachers more audible -- especially in Nelson's class. Volume seemed to be set on "full room" even at the start of the evening.

Unfortunately, IMHO the air-con, fans or whatever were completely ineffectual in both the main room and the blues room. I was hoping to be dancing the night away Fri/Sat/Sun, but the heat in the main room on Sat was completely over-bearing to me, and the blues room eventually got way too warm. None of the very few fans in either venue seemed to be placed to draw in cold air, just to recirculate the warm. The blues room was even getting too hot during the lessons -- the phrase "stinking hot" comes to mind (reminded me of a Leroc lesson that followed kick boxing) -- fetid in fact. The sense of relief / coolness and taking a breath on leaving the blues room was severely marred by the fumes emanating from the smoking zone in the arcade (not an ideal arrangement) billowing out in to the route to the toilets. I think the 24+ hour dancing isn't tennable as a USP if the other facilities aren't in place to keep the venues cool for the whole period.

All in all, reasonable but could do better.

SpinDr

P.S. Punters' cabaret on the other hand was superb

OK - the first Franco weekend that i've done for a while.

The good
The dancing. Some fantastic dances to be had.
The music in the chill out room - excellent.
The company as always, great to make new friends and catch up with those i haven't see for a while

And that's about it.
I was very disappointed otherwise. A bit of a let down really after doing bliss and breeze earlier in the year.

The lack of ventilation in both main dance rooms was nasty There was something like 12 fans moving air around in the main room at Bliss, i think i counted 3 this weekend. The atmosphere was evil up there on friday night. i think i lasted one dance. It was little better while the classes were running. The chill out was better, but not by much. God knows what it would have been like if it had been a little warmer outside.

The dance floor - Spindr summed up the blues room. At Bliss, the main room dance floor had been extended on 3 sides. It must have been nearly double it's original size. Very little this weekend - other than the usual bit by the bar. It turned dancing upstairs into a rugby scrum almost. Which, given Englands performance on Saturday - sound like we need more practise.

So all in all. Yes, i had some fab dances and it was great to catch up with people again. Don't think i'll be going to another franco one soon. Still, with Southport and 4 Ceroc ones booked for next year. Dancing will be done

I agree - the water coolers everywhere is simply not enough. In fact I think Mike Ellard should also make everyone's beds and provide valet parking.

Given the heat problem that you refer too have you thought about asking Franco to fan people and dry them off with towels when they come off the floor.

All in all a good weekend. It is to my mind the people who make it, for me its not solely about the fabby dances I had, sharing a few quiet words or a bit of banter, renewing old aquaintences, the conversations over the dinner table with the friends you share with. Saying that there was a good deal of quality there. All of my favourite people were there and so even after a three nights with hardly any sleep and sore feet I will remember this weekend. I was lucky enough to spend the weekend in the company of a lot of special people.

Highlights: There were loads this is just a small part. Minnie, we didnt get to dance but just you being there is a big plus, same goes for Fletch:respect: . Cruella, had the bonus of making you laugh:devil: Witty.. You never cease amaze me so good in such a short time:respect: too. And to a very special friend Natural Mystic, Ich habe nicht die Wörter! There are also many non-forumite ladies who were so memorable I just hope I didnt look too awestruck.

I also got to spend some rare time, watching my comtemporaries RobD, The Fox, Nigel, Raph and others, differing styles but all so good :respect:

Trampy gets a special mention, Dude you are awsome, is there anything you cant do:respect:

Lowlights: All of my own making

I had a fab time. Shared a chalet with people I hadn't met before, danced with people I hadn't met before, so now have new friends! 'ray!

Some simply amazing dances I had, to some great, great music. Overall probably spent no more than 30 minutes upstairs over the three evenings, downstairs was so fab.

WB - cheeky few dances with her; slinky ones with Taz, Cruella very smoo-o-oth, Fletch great fun and smiling (cf. Trouble mentioned above) other ladies too I danced with I knew were forumites but curse me for a social disaster zone don't remember names and/or monikers.

Counting the days til Bognor.

Yeah, and he walks around like a lost modern jive dancer on the morning after from Shawn of the dead

He's probably a lonely old harmless guy but he doesn't make any bones out of copping an eyeful of his partner's breasts - long and intense would describe his looks.

So this is a message from what Ceroc HQ ?

you certainly were not at camber november 2006 ?. There was a load more people here then at September ceroc gathering and dance floor was packed on saturday. probably twice the number then at Breeze

Unless the ladies want him banned what harm is he doing ?

So why would anyone think there was going to be an extra nights dancing?
My understanding was, Franco opend on Thursday to allow people to unpack, settle in, get a good nights sleep, so you able to make the best of Friday as a full day, it wasn't ment as a 'paty night'

Seems to me Franco carn't do right for wrong, it was a wonderful 'extra' just a shame I couldn't make it

I have to disagree, Franco might have to market it slightly differently, and number might fluctuate due to what else is going on around it, but I didn't see any evidence that this venue is on its last legs, infect quite the contrary.

I had a great time. Had what seemed to be constantly great dances, particularly upstairs (Mostly, I like energy in my dance, downstairs is just too soporific for me at Camber :)). Did more dancing than any other weekender so far, also slept the best, which might be why :)

That said, the floor upstairs could have used some work, the main floor near me was too sticky (found out later the other side was better for some reason) although it did improve, presumably as people trampled dust onto it. The small floor was crap, too many ridges. Why extra dance floor wasn't laid I don't know (well, money I guess), major league crap point.

Free water coolers were great, sound system seemed to fuzz from time to time which was annoying. Music upstairs was okay for me, but nothing special and at times I wondered what there definition of 'modern' must be.

I have to compare this to Storm (missed Bliss), and overall, frankly, it came up short (for me) and at a more expensive price. That said, Storm was the first Ceroc weekender and who knows whether they'll keep that standard and 'buzz' up?
For now, I'd go again if it didn't clash.

DVD at £27.50, yor havin' a laugh!

Seems to me Franco carn't do right for wrong

I was at both and yes I enjoyed both for different reasons, each one for me was made special by the people that were there.

Its always hot, vigorous dancing get you like that, temporary dance floors are always less than perfect, tore a sole on the latin room floor at Southport, got a blister on the decking outside the blues room in southport, kept catching my heel on the stuff at bliss and same this time, in the overall context didnt think it was worth the effort of a whinge.. :what: Go figure

I loved being able to dance in the bar, probably had some of my best dances in there.

That little bit of dance floor will feature heavily in my memoirs... :what: Again go figure.

I was there to dance, and dance I did, with people I know and people I met for the first time, comparisons, what for, each is unique.

Dance people and music to dance to, give me that and I'll make my own fun.

If he is when is it now in vogue to take the **** out of someone who isnt here to defend himself

Unless the ladies want him banned what harm is he doing ?

I agree with you that it is not nice to take the p1ss, but, this old guy did run his hands down the tits of another forumite that I know, while dancing & does spend his time being 'inappropriate'.

You kind of get the impression that he uses his 'oldness' as an excuse for being a perv, as he knows no one is likely to kick him in the b0110ck5 for havong a quick feel up.

Having said that....if he did it to me, I'd punch his lights out.

Well what a lovely thing to say, thank you!:flower:

I loved dancing and chatting with you too... you have a wicked sense of humour.

(I see somebody has already posted about your favourite partner, nicknamed The Corpse...

I saw him in the mini-aerials class, which I thought was highly amusing - he can't even stand straight, how's he going to throw women around??)

your welcome and glad you appreciated my sense of humour.... :D

the Corpse in aerials class is not even remotely funny and extremely dangerous, surely nobody partnered him. SURELY NOT...

This was my first weekender & I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!

Downstairs on Fri night was the best for me & also Witty's birthday, but just meeting so many fellow Forumites -
Witty Bird (I could watch you dance all day:respect: ), Chef, Minnie M, Taz, Ducasi, Silver Fox, Jaime & all the others, especially Fletch:hug: who took me under her wing - Thankyou! :flower:

Only downsides for me were the uneven floor, too many women over in class & sleep deprivation:mad:

So many amazing dances with both forum & non-forumites, I can't wait for my next weekender (Southport)

Get comfortable, this could take a while

I had a great weekend, as MikeyR said you make your own fun and it's the people that make it for me. Missed a few special people but hey ho, you win some you lose some

Started off on Thursday night in the pub playing pool with Ducasi, Trouble, Double Trouble and Jamie  Unfortunately I got poisoned, nearly passed out and had to be escorted to the ladies where I made friends with God. Thanks to Trouble for being my nurse and to Ducasi for taking me back to the Villa  It was only afterwards when I remembered being told not to take Codeine

It was great checking in on Thursday and being able to chill out in the pub  Shame about the woman behind the bar if she'd had a personality she would be dangerous, I don't think it helped when I asked her for 'a pint of personality please' she said 'we only have Kronenberg' :watt:

Friday was great with Freestyle in the main room from 11am there were some great tracks played. I was sat watching Taz leading Jamie :worthy: when I got asked to dance with the line ' Would you like to dance with the DJ'
I should've replied with 'if you think you can handle it' but I just laughed and said 'No, but I'll dance with you' :snigger:

Enjoyed Friday night up until I heard about a game being played by a group of people in the blues roomgotta say I was absolutely disgusted by the lack of respect for other dancers in the blues room by this group of people. :w@nkers:

Saturday was great and my party was buzzing it was great to see such a good turnout, Thank you for all my lovely pressies. Big Thank you goes out to my bestest Fletch for organising it :respect: balloons, banners and a cake with my face on, I think it only scared a few people  Unfortunately the heart on the diamond bracelet she bought me came off and I never found it. I was absolutely Gutted as the sentiment to which it was given to me and the little speech had nearly reduced me to tears  Only the usual suspects left at 9.30am in the blues room so myself and Cruella called it a day and went to bed.

Sunday was lovely as usual and I even managed to do a class, thanks to Ducasi for partnering me in it and to MickS and Tinkerbell for the laughs and translation into English  throughout the class, Gotta say this is the first time I had seen Graham Fox and Cristina teach and I enjoyed it, well taught and interesting with RogerC then playing WCS in the bar for the next 2 hours  Infact I think it's the first time I've done a class at a weekender

Nice to meet and Dance with new people. Made some interesting and lovely new discoveries - Thanks Cruella for sharing your discovery with me

Thank you to all the special people who made my weekend what it was.
Thank you to all the people who attended my party you're all great
Thank you to my chalet mates for putting up with my foul mood on Sunday morning.

I laughed all weekend with so many people, had some amazing dances :worthy: I'm not naming names and I didn't have a bad dance all weekend

Jamie you are filthy  definately in the genes  Fletch if you're gonna pull my top down while I'm giving Jamie a lapdance will you please give me some notice, so I don't in future hide my head in his lap out of embarrassment (while laughing my head off) and make it look like a 1990's porn film :snigger:

Thank you to everyone who participated in my birthday dance :worthy: You all made me feel very special.

It was great meeting and spending time with new forumites as well as old.

Biggest surprise of the weekend was Franco coming up to me on Saturday afternoon with a bottle of Moet and saying 'Happy Birthday' :worthy: Thank you.

Whens the next one?

Good
I enjoyed Graham and Cristina's cabaret a lot and was lucky enough to dance with her later that evening. She is fab
The pub setting was great for afternoon dancing and socialising
Some new discoveries
Interesting man 2 man dances (Jamie's a star)
New shoes - cuban heels!

Bad
I still hate the temporary flooring that JiveTime use - every other step seems to catch a heel. Gives you no confidence to dance.
Not being on my best behaviour and letting people down.
Maybe not 'bad' but the number of people bailing out of Simon B's advanced jive class (which he presented very well and energetically I should add) gingerly rubbing their shoulders made me glad I was watching and not taking part.
I still haven't learned that drinking and dancing all night without taking water on board leads to unpleasant dehydration for most of the next day.

I had a really great time in Camber – I'm really glad I came along (big thanks to Wittybird for persuading me to come along.)

Outside of the dancing, etc., the thing that makes a weekend is the company you have, and the company I had was second to none. All my roommates were great company – we had such a good laugh. Especially with Taz – she's just lovely.

Was also good to meet lots of new folks, and all the familiar faces. (Shame there wasn't more Scots there.) Special mention for Jamie, for being a top bloke, and an awesome dancer. :worthy:

As for the dancing... I had so many really fab dances with so many people – I ache so bad today!

One of the best bits of a weekender is making new discoveries – those really great dancers you just click with – and I made several rather fab discoveries this weekend... Not going to mention any names here, but perhaps if they read this they'll know who they are. (Hope those that are on the forum will post their comments too.) Really loved dancing with you!

Music-wise, upstairs was all-right, though I think some of the DJs could have been a little bit more adventurous and thrown away that worn-out "modern jive hits of the 90's" CD they own. Also, it appeared to a few of us that one of the sets on Saturday during the day was *identical* to the set played by that DJ on Friday. Most of the time I thought the sound system was too loud, and as someone else said, a bit dodgy at times.

Downstairs the latin room did exactly what it said on the tin. Feel sorry for the DJs there though that were too often playing to just a few couples. Though the floor really isn't big enough for a big crowd anyway.

The "swing and blues" room music was good when it was that more chilled music that we call "blues". The swing music would have been better somewhere else entirely – maybe in a latin and swing room.

On Sunday night I noticed we had a DJ who seemed to lack patience and would start the next song before the previous one had finished – while talking over both of them. (I can't remember which room this was...) Please let songs finish before playing the next one, and it you have to talk, do so between or at the start of songs.

The one thing I disliked most about Camber was the temporary floors – they were simply awful. After the cabaret on Saturday we were told there would be new floors both upstairs and down next year, but it wasn't clear whether than was the permanent dance floors (which I found alright) or the temporary ones.

I also found the heat in all the rooms to be, at times, unbearable – but if what woodface says is true, then hopefully will be better in the future.

I can't compare it against previous or other events at Camber, but I can compare against Southport. I'm trying hard to think of things that are better at Camber compared to Southport – maybe the only thing is that the blues room is bigger (but it's still not better in quality.)

Things which could be made better at Camber...

The presentation – Southport has much slicker production values – e.g. glossy brochures and booklets, large colour timetable posters for each room. All the information you need together.
A permanent blues room – one of the best things about Southport is the way that the blues room seems to run 24 hours a day over the weekend, playing chilled out music during the day.
Bigger names – both on the teacher and DJ side. Camber doesn't seem to make a big deal about the DJs it employs, maybe because there usually isn't a big deal to be made. Also, a few exclusive or very high profile teachers would be an extra draw...

Over-all I enjoyed the weekend though. I enjoyed all the dancing, the two (and a bit) classes I did with Taz (lap-dancing ) and Witty (WCS entertainingly taught by Scotland's own Graham Fox with Christina), and everything else.

I missed the company of those who couldn't make it though. :(

I was glad to catch Graham & Christina's cabaret performance. Just shows you don't have to be American to put a really entertaining WCS performance together. (Helps to be Scottish though. ;))

I enjoyed Witty's birthday party, cake was lovely – as was Cruella's birthday cake.

So, big thanks to everyone – for the dances, company, organisation, lifts, cake, laughs, hugs and cuddles.

I had a great time this weekend... thanks to Fletch and Witty for introducing me to lots of people. Had some amazing dances, in fact the dancing was just brilliant, especially in the afternoons in the bar and early hours of the morning in the blues room. The only problem is finding time to eat and sleep! Had a nice west coast with Jamie on Friday afternoon, cheers for that Jamie, didnt manage to get much more wcs in over the weekend, having said that I had some great dances full of musical interpretation and fun!.... would have liked a more advanced west coast class though. Watched Graham and Cristina teach rumba, really refreshing style of teaching, fantastic!

In all it was great fun, thanks to Silver Fox for making me laugh so much! Anne, Noel and Julia my chalet mates for their great company, Andy for his neck massages and Ibuprofen!...and Blueshoes for the chocolate cake.

IMHO there was a bit to much pi$$ taking, by certain individuals, and I said so

No one likes a laugh more than me  but fairness and respect has to be priority :flower:

Enjoyed Friday night up until I heard about a game being played by a group of people in the blues room gotta say I was absolutely disgusted by the lack of respect for other dancers in the blues room by this group of people. :w@nkers:
for once I have to say Witty's language isn't strong enough.

I was witness to something 'going on' in the blues room but wasn't sure what it was, when I discovered what these individual were doing, I had to go up stairs to dance, I was so angry I didn't feel I would be able to contain myself from behaving in appropriately.

I'm all for a bit of fun, but not at any cost and certainly not to degrade individuals.

We are all on a journey, some are further down the road than others, weather that is dance ablility, looks, size etc, live and let live 'eh! :flower:

I echo lots of comments already made. It is about meeting up with great people, socialising, having fun and making the weekend exactly what you want it to be.

Have to agree the flooring was extremely poor, but as I danced virtually the whole weekend on the floor in front of the stage in the downstairs blues room, I was quite happy.

I am sure Franco is disappointed that numbers were down, but from a purely selfish point of view, in particular Saturday evening, it was great to have space to dance.

Music downstairs was execellent - Trampy not only are you a great DJ but a class dancer as well

Jamie, you are a delight to dance with and I loved your physical interpretation to the track that goes "How to you like your eggs in the morning, I like mine with a kiss" and each time the word kiss was sung, you planted a very sweet kiss. Missed you on Sunday evening.

And Raph, Sunday evening in front of the scaffold pole  , what can I say except it is no wonder my forum name gets altered to Dirty Bird - you are so, so bad - just don't ever change.

Nice to see all my forum friends again - you all know who you are - and so many wonderful dances.

I for one will be booking again for next year.

Watched Graham and Cristina teach rumba, really refreshing style of teaching, fantastic!

I dont get luvvy to often (even after sleep deprevation), and even less so about teachers. I had agreed to do both the cha cha and the rumba class as a fixed partner because of the Rythm of these dances and the need for a clear lead.

I was blown away by how easily they taught their routines which contained some intermediate moves. The skill and experience of Graeme & Christina was plainly obvious and the way they interacted with the class the best I have seen in any dance style.

I unfortunately missed the WCS class but by all accounts it was in the same class. I even went to watch their Cabaret.....I dont do cabarets, cabarets are generally evil to my mind:devil:

Sadly I missed the opportunity to pass on this feedback to Graeme & Christina themselves, so if anyone out there knows them please convey these comments.

To weekender/workshop organisers BOOK these people they are top class.

Alright...

Now my rant's over about missing Sunday night (and missing Raph in 'play mode') I guess I better tell my good and bad points:

Travelling down on the thursday night was such a huge help to me, it gave me a chance to meet a few people and also gave me chance to get a good nights kip before the weekend (obviously it wasn't enough!! lol)

Friday, myself and Serana went up to the main hall about 11 and had a good few hours there... Met Taz up there actually, she taught me a fab move, very good dancer, she is. Also had a few WCS dances with Witty, bless her, she didn't know what she was letting herself in for. Even ma dad told me to be careful of her but in the end she ended up blushing.. :yum:

Friday night was good, except I could only stand about half an hour in the main room (well, I stuck it out until Chelsea arrived!) then had to go down to the blues room! - Had fab dances with Chelsea, as always, many good dances with Witty.. Stole Witty aswell during her birthday dance! And afterwards, had to give her her birthday present, she loved it! LOL

Only bad thing about the friday night was the blues room was dead about half 5... So I ended up going to bed.

Saturday was fun, Chelsea hadn't done a strictly sinful class before, I will be getting pics shortly! Shall be posting! HAHA

Lapdancing was also good, glad he stuck with "bad boy", it worked very well.. Also that couple that got on stage, well done to them!

Saturday night was fab, again got a good feel of witty and a good position was attained for at least 5 minutes while she regained her dignity! Fletch, if you do that again, at least let me see it! I think I was the only one who didn't see! LOL. Bless ya witty.

Also, big thanks to Taz for my dances, had some really sexy smooth dances with her, and she even burnin flamed me! HAHA ave it!

Had tons of fun in the pub at wittys birthday doo, granted I missed most of the start but I got there at least to give her a good seeing to, and a dance aswell! Cruella, my darling.. Loved the dances saturday night, hope my WCS has improved since the last time we met! and Fletch, thanks for the dances, albeit few, I could never get you! So bloody popular.. Thanks for the haribo tho, where are the pictures that were promised? LOL. Thanks to RobD aswell, had a great dance with you mate, hope to have more soon! And TopBird, haha, I do like my toast with a kiss and my eggs with a hug, as you found out with that dance! lol.. Fab dances babes!

Had a 'fan dance' with Issabelle, I believe her name was, very good dance, I think she said she was french.. Beautiful young lady, will have to dance with her again, don't know if she's on the forum. It got photo'd tho! Can't wait to see all these photo's!

Got asked if Raph was my boyfriend, which was quite funny. Altho we were going to play on that on the sunday.. We had plans for you too trampy! also, thanks to Raph for the great dance and for sitting with me on reception when everyone else had buggered off! Top bloke, look forward to seein you again matey.

Thanks also to Trampy for throwing me around in the air around 8am sunday morning, that was... fun... lol. Loved the music too mate, however by the end of sunday morning I was ready for collapsing!

Sunday was a bit crap for me unfortunately, not only did I agree to sit on reception (altho it was incredibly fun at times - and thanks for everyone who came n said hello - Luv ya Minnie M - will need a dance off you later!) but I didn't get a bloody dance all day! OR all night!

But anyway, Sunday aside, the weekend was loads of fun, made tons of friends, Ducasi, great guy.. Didn't manage to get to learn those WCS moves, you'll have to remember em for the next time we meet!

Also, met a nice guy and I believe was his wife/fiancee.. Can't remember their forum names tho! Gimme a shout via PM guys, loved the dances. You're the first guy who's asked me to lead him and I was very impressed.

The pole partys were fun back at the Chalet tho! LOL, thanks Heidi  and Marianne for my food!

DangerousCurves, you sexy baby - Thanks for everything

Think I've gone on enough now, so just a final thankyou to everyone who danced with me this weekend, you're all fab, thanks for the comments on the hat aswell  I think everyone had worn it by the end of the weekend lol!

Hope to see everyone again REAL SOON!! :respect:

I had a really lovely weekend. I didn't dance anywhere near as much as I normally do but it was great all the same.

I agree with alot whats been said already but inparticular about the flooring it was coming apart from friday daytime  I found this really annoying and difficult to find somewhere I would consider safe to dance

It was lovely to meet loads more forumites in particular young Jamie :worthy: it is difficult to believe you have only been dancing 6 months :really: it is soo nice to meet and dance with someone as playful as you and your eye contact was fab throughout

It was also great to spend some time with Ducasi and Trousers you guys are great and it was fab getting to know you both better this weekend, you can both come join me in bed again anytime  Cruella you missed out there babes

I only done 1 and a biit classes both with Ducasi, the lap dancing being the best, it was soo hard to keep a straight face (you bad bad boy)

Some fab tunes from Trampy throughout the weekend :worthy:

Big thanks to everyone I danced with this weekend I didn't have a bad dance all weekend. Also a big thanks to Trampy for picking me up and spinning me round in circles until I was so dizzy I could barely stand

You were certainly missed.

Cruella, had the bonus of making you laugh:devil:
To think I got told off for making too much noise, when it was all your fault. By Rob D of all people!! Not complaining about how you made me laugh though!

Only the usual suspects left at 9.30am in the blues room so myself and Cruella called it a day and went to bed.
 Thats how rumours start!

Thanks Cruella for sharing your discovery with me

Do you realise how honoured you are! I didn't share him with anyone else.
Did i tell you, i'm thinking of moving to Plymouth!
I think he was the highlight of my weekend, i love finding new discoveries.
I had a great time socially this weekend but my dancing was rather marred by the fact that i slightly twisted my ankle 3 hours after arriving. :( So i couldn't really get into it on sat night as i was worried about damaging it too much. Sunday was a far better night though as the pain killers kicked in and i forgot about it. I enjoyed most of the music this weekend and surprisingly seemed to have more fun dancing in the main room to the faster stuff.
Made a few new friends too which is always a big bonus.

Was only able to make the Sunday night.

The standard of Dancers was amazing. Esp after 4am in the 'Blues Room'.

Didn't have one bad or even Mediocre dance.

I am hurting soooo much today though.

Well, I agree. Sunday night was fab! Didn't move from the blues room. But sad as I had to go home at 3! So that counts me out of the 'after 4' experience:tears: lol

Fab dances....can't tell you how much I didn't want to miss out and drive home!

Was so nice to be able to get to some of you men who had eluded us for the rest of the weekend.

I do not usually post on the forum but I think that I am the only person in this instance that can give a straight answer to certain points raised so far:

1. The Free tickets. I can only conclude that the person who wrote this must have ulterior motives to do so, otherwise, please name names rather than posting nonsense. I DO NOT ISSUE FREE TICKETS to anyone, excluding staff and their spouses/boyfriends/girlfriends.

2. The portable floor (by the bar upstairs & blues room downstairs). As announced at the end of the cabaret, the existing one will not be used again and will be replaced by a new one the next time round.

3. The ventilation units. It has been said that there were only 3 in the main venue. In fact there were 8 upstairs, as per agreed contract with Pontin's. In the lower venue there was in fact cold outside air ventilated through all the grids provided above the bar counter. Never the less, I agree that the venues get very hot and that the ventilation units can barely cope. This however, is not a problem of how many ventilators there are, given that the extra numbers of ventilators at a competitor's event have not helped resolving the problem either, the cooling of the venues require a cooling system that can not be of a portable nature and that I am unfortunately currently unable to provide.

4. Early check-in on Thursday with 30 customers only. In fact there were 150+ customers taking advantage of this offer. We shall see if my competitors will also copy this "bad idea" into their events together with all my other "bad ideas" that have already been copied before.

5. The colour brochure & timetable, free mugs and free water bottle available at my competitors’ events. Whilst I clearly do not sell £ 29 tickets for budget apartments to be shared with strangers, other than that, my published prices are in fact on average the CHEAPEST on the market and have remained unchanged for 4 years running. No doubt I could give out mugs, water bottle and coloured flyers to all if I was to charge more. It has also to be noted that I am concentrating money and effort on the event itself, rather than the embellishments. Hence the investment on a new dance floor, check-in on Thursday night, check-in any time on Friday (providing the fastest check-in around compared to all my competitors) and a third room with "non-partnered" workshops as available at Camber on the event just gone and which, no doubt, will soon be copied and embellished by those concerned.

No point in commenting on all the positive feedback posted so far and for which I am naturally grateful for.

As always, if anyone requires more direct and personal responses, please feel free to e-mail me directly. Please be assured that I am doing my level best for these events.

{snip lots of stuff about the event}Franco

I had a brilliant time, and it was worth every penny. So it wasn't perfect - nothing ever is. My only complaint would be the temporary floor - so guess what I did? I danced on the permanent floor! (Resourceful, what?)

See you in Bognor, Franco.

I didn't have as good a Camber as I was hoping. Apart from 6:30-8:30am on Sunday morning, which was just an amazing time :D

I think that was mostly down to me - I wasn't really up for it that much. Don't know why :tears: Went to bed at 2am on Friday night - probably the earliest I've ever been to bed at a weekender.

However, I did have some great dances at times - both leading and following. With some of my favourite dancers who were there (including some I haven't seen for a very long time  ), and also with a few new people that I met for the first time, and will hopefully see again before too long.

Won't be able to go to Bognor now that the dates have changed though, as I'll be in Paris that weekend :(

Arrived on Friday but couldn't be bothered dancing on the first night - much preferred to chill with a few glasses of everything you can imagine! hic! ;)

Saturday - I only did a couple of workshops, one which was Mikeys Strictly Sinful - the blues - and I take back every word I said on what I thought about his workshops. Yep, I was a Strictly Sinful virgin until last weekend, and I've got to say, I luuuuuuurved it! What a laugh too!!!!  :respect: to Mikey for putting together a fantastic routine. Will definately do the next one!

The WCS workshops was fantastic - lots of triple stepping and this really does put more structure into MJ. The couple who were teaching were at Britroc and for anyone who hasn't seen them strut their stuff properly on the dance floor - believe me, you won't be able to take your eyes off them! hot stuff! :worthy:

But you did at least give him a try, very commendable. Perhaps there should be a workshop on dance ettiquette, explaining for example why Mikey's 'OTT' classes aren't sleazy, but doing 'little' things inappropriatey can be very sleazy. But the people who most needed it probably wouldn't attend!

Hotshottery is AFAIK nothing about how you dance, it's about who you do and don't dance with. Therefore SF is indeed a hotshot. :awe:

Firstly, there's no clear consensus that " Mikey's 'OTT' classes aren't sleazy" - lots of historical debate on this, see the Fletch / Andy McGregor "discussions" from Summer 2005.

Secondly, there may well be a market for "dance discussion" workshops - there was a psychology one at a weekender last year I believe? So it may be worth suggesting...

I nearly posted "Mikey's 'OTT' classes aren't (all that) sleazy", but decided that would be unfair as there was, IMHO,nothing objectionable at all in the Sinful Blues and Lapdancing classes. Can't speak for the classes I haven't seen of course. Yes, they were daring and outrageous beyond belief, but all in good humour. Mikey wasn't pushing people into doing anything they didn't want to do - he made it clear that this was not the sort of thing you would spring on someone in freestyle unless you knew them well.

I will pass on looking up the archives, though I am a bit curious to know which side Fletch was on!

Most Ceroc weekenders have a dance psychology workshop, but I didn't get to do the one at Breeze. It would be good if they covered sleaze, as it gives dancing/dancers a bad name, and causes a lot of distress and bad feeling.

I think most people are more insecure than they like to let on, and dance etiquette seems to magnify people's 'fears'.

My parting comment at Camber (Monday, 5.30am, Blues Room) was "this is only my 2nd weekender, and to be honest, I feel a bit intimidated by some of the people here". She is very confident and experienced, was dancing very well with some of the 'best' guys, but she said "I'm surprised you're only a bit intimidated then, I still am..."

You are welcome. :flower: In the Sinful Blues class, I saw that you were smiling, laughing, and having a fun time, which was quite infectious. :D The inexperienced partner I had was a little unsure at first, but we soon got into the swing of it.

She complimented me afterwards that she felt comfortable to do the class with me... she even had a private lesson with Mikey later! Come to think of it, she did some very spectacular laybacks for someone I hadn't danced with before that day. :waycool:

I can't wait to see how it looks on the DVD, I think we were being filmed over in our direction...

I have to say I find it quite bizare to spend so much time posting on here and then not to just pop and say Hi, to the people you know are all together in the 'blues room' but it migh just be me

When I left Camber, I was shocked to realise I hadn't danced with lots of people I knew were there... Not because I was avoiding them, but I just never bumped into them again after a brief encounter. Big place I suppose. I really liked the pub at Camber this time, which often was very quiet :nice: but then I didn't meet so many people. I did try wandering round the other rooms from time to time, but assumed the elusive people were just not dancing at the time. I even couldn't find you sometimes Fletch!

Well babes, I'm relieved I'm not going to be piggy-in-the-middle again on this one! :D Remember I'm new, young, and innocent in the ways of the forum :innocent:

I had a great Camber, will admit that i did not enjoy it as much as the Ceroc event but whether that was down to the organising or that i was fairly unwell (Glandular Fever) and therefor did not dance that much means i wont comment too much.

I had some absolutely wonderful dances with lots of people, although i do feel that i was dancing so far below my normal low standard that i would not inflict my self on to too many women, so stuck with people i knew or those that asked me.

I came along to the bar on Saturday night and felt to shy to introduce myself to everyone especially being a newcomer to the forum.

I did say hi to Taz, and had a dance with her, sorry for my poor skills, i was in no fit state to dance but i never turn anyone down. I promise to make it up to you in future.

I also had a dance with Jamie, i had to do that after our discussion about men leading men. But again as with Taz i will do better next time, I'm thinking first move half loops!.

I also introduced myself to The Tramp and he pointed a few people out but the party was in full swing by then and i needed to go and sleep.

I promise to introduce myself to more people in future and i will try to look a little more alive.

The few classes that i managed to do i really did enjoy, the lap dancing class has taught me a thing or 2 about myself, namely do not give up my day job. And the sinful triple class was superb.

Fletch and Taz have posted a few, but I haven't worked out how to upload photos yet.

I don't think we met, I didn't know you were there or I would have looked for you!

Even more reason for you to come along and introduce yourself. As long as you didn't end up giving anyone glandular fever I am sure you would have been given a very warm welcome.

I ended up meeting some new forumites

Patrick - We had a great chat at the bar
Lady Marmalade - We had a couple of dances and she disappeared never for me to see her again over the weekend.
Seriously addicted - Again we had a couple of dances in the main room.

I also had a chance to dance with Rebecca (I had done it before but didn't know that I had been dancing with a forumite) in the bar one lunchtime. Apparently I eneded up costing her £90 because she decided to go out and buy a new pair of shoes afterwards. Like a lady dancer needs a reason to buy new dance shoes - yeah, right.

It would have been nice to have some chat time somewhere away from the noise and dancing with Lady MArmalade and Seriously Addicted because they are both from my own local area.

It was good to meet you and to have a couple of dances- at least now when you can make it to Tunbridge Wells I'll know who to look for.

Oi you! You calling me a hotshot!

Ummm. Yes. Though, it was pointed out that I'm probably not attractive enough to dance with you!
Well she asked me to dance so she can't be that much of a hotshot

Firstly, there's no clear consensus that " Mikey's 'OTT' classes aren't sleazy" - lots of historical debate on this, see the Fletch / Andy McGregor "discussions" from Summer 2005.
Yeah lets not  I think that thread is best left where it is.

 Thanks for the dance babes
I was totally thrown when running down the path and you shouted out "you must be Taz"

Yeah i know, was not on top form and was not realy with it. We have met though, i dance at maidstone usually, but was at high rocks a few weeks back with Sarah and she introduced us, not by forum ID though.

Sorry, you were mid birthday cake at the time.

Now had i been wearing my captain hook outfit from the previous weekender you would have reconised me too..
