View Full Version : London over the Xmas/New Year week - whats on?

Hiya guys,

I'm in London over the Xmas/New Year week.

What dancing/Xmas balls are on? Any particular recomendations? (I see Twford on 23rd.... and Chiswick on 30th... big gap inbetween there....)

Whats happening to the Greenwich ball this year? I'm not exaggerating when I say this - "last year was brilliant!.... my best event of the year!.... the music and rooms were unbelievably good... the venue just right.... on the river, what a view...."

Whats happening with the Ealing ball this year? Last year's I remember there were a few issues - which Franck sorted out in a very professional manner.... The night itself was pretty cool and laid back... the nibbles on the tables were actually very good... one thing I remember.... I forgot to nick all the left over lychees at the end of the night tho!

Cheers
Martin

PS:
Last year, you guys helped me organise the week - at the last minute the week before!.... Lord knows how I got tickets for those events.... :na:

PPS:
Glad I'm sitting down - I'm never this organised normally - but this question has come to me in a blinding flash!... I'm finally organising myself - post Britroc

Thanks Witty

Whats the Ashton's one like tho? Is it really packed?... ticket only or not.... ie. Is it a more "chill out and look good at the end of year" kinda event - as opposed to space to dance etc? I've only been to ashtons once... it was busy... and people were telling me it can be 4 times more people there (Christ!...)

Not really a critism of the place at all... I'd just like to know what to expect! :na:

PS:
Do you have links for the details/ application forms etc?

I'm interested in this too - and who might be doing what. Trying to persuade my non-forum friend to come back from her Christmas sojourn early. She always says she has a cr@p new year, so shouldn't be difficult if there's something good on!

Ummm. That'll be Franco. Franck an entirely different person, and has Sheena now to sort things out in a professional manner! (Not that I'm saying that Franck wouldn't have done things in a professional manner at all of course! )

Although the girls in the other picture are far too pretty to contend with, might as well stay at home. :(

But on second thoughts, a whole room full of men in white shirts  I'll be happy just to watch!

It's far too early to be thinking of buying Christmas & NYE tickets  I will get a list together about mid November and will post on my list.

In the meantime - there is Jon Brett's Glitter Ball end December and Ceroc Surrey always put on a good NYE party - hang on in there, I am sure we will be doing a poll next month.

Franco's JiveTime NYE dance/party is possibly the best one in London though

Would Slinky's be a Christmas party ?

Ashtons last year was very busy, yes. Good, but busy.

For some comments, see the thread "Ashtons Black and white do the aftermath (http://www.cerocscotland.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7293)" from last year.

Although obviously, this year could be completely different :)

Hope that helps!

Hiya Guys,

Right, just sent off for my Ashtons ticket - saved £10 booking early - can't be bad! :na:

What else is going on over xmas/New year in London??

Londsa bad press, but perhaps give that hippodrome thingy a go - so at least I can judge for myself. If its a bad night - can also go out into china town, or hit a proper club etc :na:

Any news on Greenwich? I lurvved last year! :nice:

I'll be back from Cameroon to France for Christmas and NYE... I am soooo dancing deprived that I'm really thinking about making an express trip to London... just one flight away

Ashtons on the 27th sounds good, is there anything else planned on the 26th or 28th / 29th? If I am making this trip it'd like to dance on more than just one night... :D
I don't think I can stay until NYE though, friends back in France would kill me  !

It was talked about last year, but didn't happen in the end, I've been toying with the idea of putting on a freestyle on Christmas Day in the evening, after all it is a Monday...

I know Amir won't be teaching, but I don't know if the venue will be available, if there's enough interest, it could happen...

I sent the link to the NYE party at Ealing to my non-forum friend. She quite fancies it, but is concerned that this is not a Ceroc but a jive party, and that the dancing will somehow be different. I’ve tried telling her that I don’t think it will be, but not having been to any of their events, my opinion isn’t holding much weight… So, will she recognise the moves?

*Disclaimer: the writer of this post is so used to having dance moves thrown at her that she doesn’t recognise (particularly after some fab dances  with FirstMove over the weekend :D ) that she doesn’t give a toss! Enquiries are strictly for non-forum friend’s benefit.

Only if she starts going to Ealing regularly because it's the little Alien men that fly down in spaceratti banana jets that teach, so all the moves are advanced in space age. Really takes lots of practice and determination to master even possibly light years.

Jilly hasn't made her mind up who the guest DJ's are @ Berko over Xmas & New Year wouldn't it be great to have OXO's there!

If you're planning on going to Berko NYE maybe it's time to say who you'd like to DJ to give Jilly an idea of who to get :D Im sure she'd listen to the opinions

OXO is a brilliant dj - I know there were really good comments about his music when he was covering for Marc at Berko the other weekend. It would be fantastic to see him there again, and I know Marc would agree.

Oh yes OXO gets my vote. :respect: He did a great job of standing in for Marc last month in the blues room....and that really isn't an easy thing to do.

Great bloke too.

We'll be at Daventry on Friday 29th and possibly Chiswick on the 30th.

I expect Finchley will do a thing on the 1st again, so you could always try that - see how many days' freestyles you can fit in at once :)

It's an evening thing.

(I was just about to say something pithy about Cerocmetro's communications of future events, but then I thought I'd better check the website - and there are details there  )

Anyway, check out: http://www.cerocmetro.com/calendar.php? and click on the ICE thing - details are:

Fabulous Party Night, well established with great atmosphere, dancers and music. Hot drinks, nibbles and cakes are complimentary at the end of the evening.
All this happens at
All Saints Arts Centre
122 Oakleigh Road North
Finchley, London
N20 9EZ
TICKET ONLY EVENT - Details very soon !
The first time they did it, it was "pay on the door" and it was mobbed - well over 300 people there, I barely managed to get in myself. So ticket-only is quite sensible.

I imagine it's something like 8pm - 1am, with DJ Robin, based on the last two events.

I'm having difficulty getting tickets for the Daventry Sinderella ball (29th December). The Ceroc Central website says to order them online (which I have tried a couple of times with no success) or to call Emma Pettitt (it gives a number) and order them over the phone - but she's not answering :what:.

Anyone got any idea how I can sort this out?

Thanks :flower:

I sent a cheque off a while ago (couldn't seem to order them online either) but haven't received tickets yet.

Maybe because she might not want her email address on the web and available to spammers?

Well, then she'd probably want to remove it, along with her home and mobile phone numbers from the Ceroc Central website then.....

Oh, and Duncan.... I was perfectly aware of that reason. And if it was her private email address, that'd be one thing.... :flower:
